TastemasterWNY (8), New York, USA does not count Jul 14, 2009 I loved it. Tasted great as I sat outside by a fire. This Scotch Style Ale is as tasty as a Porter, but has a nice bite to make you feel like a man who knows when there’s a cold wind a blowin’ in all the wrong places. Butters (1622), Virginia, USA Jun 2, 2009 Sampled at Springslicker’s Fish Fry ’09. Dark brown pour with fair dark tan head. Creamy milk chocolate aroma. Toasty, a little bready, lots of caramel. Creamy carbonation and a medium mouthfeel a pretty solid beer. 6ROW (243), corpus christi, Texas, USA May 6, 2009 red to brown pour with a huge light brown head. aroma of dark roasted malts. warming taste of very dark roasted amoust burnt malts. short bitter finish MatSciGuy (627), Rosemount, Minnesota, USA Apr 30, 2009 [Bottle] that was a bonus I think from JCB. Pours a deep brown, nearly black with a surprisingly large tan head of small, creamy bubbles that lingers nicely. Aroma initially is a bit vegetal, but I let it warm and it quickly dissipates, leaving behind lots of fruity esters, some sweet malts, and a hint of peated malt. Flavor is significantly more smoky than the nose would suggest, with a great fruitiness that really complements the beer fantastically. The mouthfeel is rich and smooth, and the finish leaves a hint of smokiness and a touch of bittersweet chocolate. This is an extremely well done beer.
