| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Aug 22, 2006 Bottle: Courtesy of rudolf via Secret Santa. Aroma has lots of caramel and chocolate with hints of raisin and smoke. Pours a dark garnet with some moderate transparency and small off-white head. Starts with moderate chocolate and caramel that fades to a smokey raisin, fruit, and alcohol finish. Alcohol is a little too much for me and becomes overbearing. This just doesn’t compare to the better Scotch Ales that I’ve had. Nice aroma and appearance make this beer score higher than my enjoyment would indicate. Dubbercody (214), Vancouver, Washington, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Aug 19, 2006 A nicely dark ruby colored brew, bubbly head that dropped quickly.
Smells great, very much a scotch ale nose of malt, peat and a bit of spice. Tasted a bit to strongly of alcohol for my taste, but did not knock me out of my chair with it’s strength.
Good brew that I’m glad came to me via trade.
