Commercial Description:
A Scottish "90/-" ale. Brewed only once a year, this ale is rich and full with a dryness that is beautifully balanced with a classic malt sweetness.

From bomber. Mahogany pour with big tan head. Nose and flavor were sweet malts with some other things happening in the background. Not my cup of tea.

Bomber from jah noth - thanks! Dark ruby with a light tan head. Sweetly malty nose tinged with peat smoke and mild cinnamon, bready notes. Hoppier flavor than expected, lightly smoked, sweet malt and a whiskey pop. Another winner from MA!

From a 22oz Bottle. Pours a dark, transparent color of black cherry skins with a thick layer of quickly dissipating tan foam. Aromas of toffee and vanilla mingle with some smokey coconut husks. Medium bodied, lightly carbonated mouthfeel. The flavors start out with some smokey vanilla caramel and grows in intensity until it reaches a dark caramel, borderline chocolatey climax. The flavors then fade slowly from the palate, leaving behind a gently sour, peaty final smack. Thanks, Dan!

Tap at Barcade. Deep brown, purple-tinted with a tan coloured creamy head. The aroma is very sweet and plummy. Rum-raisin with a hint of cherry as well. Flavour is very sweet, toasty malt mixed with sweet wort. Plum/cherry and a touch of light molasses. The flavour is a bit rough around the edges with a slightly tarry astringent character behind all of the sweetness. Light burnt sugar as well as a kiss of smokiness. It’s neither smooth nor terribly polished, but I like it just the same. Lots of character.

22oz bomber from HogTownHarry, thanks Harry! My label is different and claims 9% ABV. Pours a deep reddish brown with a 1/2 finger beige head that fairly quickly diminishes to a creamy film. Aroma of some peated malt--not as much as I’m used to--, caramel malt, and a little bit of burny alcohol during the first few whiffs. Very sweet smelling. Flavor is much the same with the addition of roasty malts toward and in the dry finish. The alcohol isn’t covered up very well, though it isn’t really detracting from anything, either. Medium to full bodied with light creamy carbonation with is just a tad tingly. Pretty decent.

Bottle courtesy of Hogtownharry: Poured a dark brown color ale with a small foamy head with average retention. Aroma of big sweet malt with a very subtle note of peat malt. Taste of rich sweet caramel malt with some peat notes and some warming alcohol. Body is a bit thin for the style and less filtration would have benefited this beer IMHO. Alcohol is present and warming but really does fit well and it didn’t bother me.

Dark, reddish brown appearance with an average size, off white head. Malty. caramel apple aroma with hints of butterscotch and cinnamon. Fruity, moderately sweet, malty flavor with a more earthy aftertaste. Medium-to-full bodied, nicely carbonated mouthfeel leading to a bitter, dry, lingering finsih.

Bottle from Shadey. Dark brown with faint mahogany edges. 1 Finger head fades to ring. Aroma has tons of dark roasted grain, prunes, smoke and burnt caramel. Mouthfeel very creamy smooth at first, but fades out, gets a tad watery. Flavor sweeter than aroma suggests. Plenty of prune/dark fruits, fades to caramel/toffee through the middle. Finishes with a decent smoked peat kick. Very dry. Not bad overall.
