Middle Ages Syracuse Pale Ale

hazy orange color. Small head. Aroma was somewhat medicinal. Strange taste - it was malty with slight hops but it disappeared quickly and reminded me of flavored water in the end. Not quite sure what this was.

Bottle. Clear, golden body with a small, off-white head that diminishes. Aroma is grainy with an off taste of Band-Aid in the background. Some notes of citrus hop and caramel malt. The flavor is moderately sweet and lightly bitter and moderately acidic. Dry finish. Thought this was fairly disjointed, especially in the flavor.

Bottle. Copper, white head. Nose is grainy malts & lemon. Flavor is malt, cereals, hay, butter, light sourness. Not much in the way of hops.

Tap at Barcade. Slightly hazy, pale golden beer topped by a thick fluffy head. Aroma is quite orangey and honeyish with a bit of sweet macintosh apple and pear esters. Quite fruity-smelling with a light pale ale malt underneath. Only moderate bitterness. Some fairly prominent peach/apricot flavour as well.

Bottle. Pours amber with an off white head. Aroma is lightly sweet malt and caramel. Medium body. Flavor is malt, earth, grass and caramel. Just a hint of hops. Pretty average but I’d say it’s pretty good for what it is.

Courtesy of beastiefan2K. 12 oz bottle poured into a pint glass witha straw color and medium fizzy off white that disappates to a small cap. Nose is fruity, bisquity and some floral notes. Initial taste of similar to the aroma plain, bland and stale. Bisquits and fruit esters are dominant but fade near instantly like a drive by. Finishing with a tangy bitter hops. Light body and palate duration is below average.

Very middle of the road all around. But that is kind of what this style is all about IMHO. I never expect to find an English Pale Ale that really kicks me in the ass it’s just not what this mild mannered style is all about. Having said that if you want to try this beer but can’t find it, no worries, just go drink a Bass.

(Bottle) Pours a clear copper body with a small white head. Aroma or orange, florals, and biscuit. Flavor of flaxseed, toasted malt, caramel, grassy/citrusy hops, and some tea as it warms to close to room temperature.
