Nose is all caramel, just heavenly for malt lovers. No, it’s not that fruity or hoppy, but style be damned! I could smell this all day, if I couldn’t sit near an oven baking crem brulee instead. Flavor doesn’t quite live up; I didn’t expect it too so wasn’t super disappointed. Still a lot of caramel/butterscotch, more malty than usual, but the sweetness is definitely undercut but a fair contingent of hops warriors thrusting through the malt lines and trying to bring us to a bitter conclusion. In the end its a stalemate, but a messy one; rather than complementing the sweetness, the hops rather ruins and dissects it, leaving a weird somewhat disjointed finish and a perplexed drinker. Balance, anyone? Still worth a big nod for the nose alone... bitter (1137), Henderson, Nevada, USA

Mix of hops and citrus, more of a summer ale after taste. Not a great beer, but tolerable. winterlager (101), Orchard Park, New York, USA

| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Nov 12, 2002 Mostly clear light orange. Small, compact off white head. Slow carbonation. Buttery yeast aroma with elements of citrus. Delicately crisp with a puffy, Ringwood yeast laden body and mild citric overlay. Medium body. Mostly dry. Long butterscotch, floral hop and faint orange (Yeah! go Orange!) aftertaste. Finishes a bit sticky and with a detectable English hop flavor. A good knock ’em back brew. Steak (124), New York, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Jun 1, 2002 Average in so many ways. Nose is a little lacking but has presences of malty-earthiness. Very nice amber, orange color. I wonder if the orange tint was a tribute to SU. Anways, has a fairly thick feel to it, which was nice, and a good hop kick to finish. Nothing stands out as being exceptional, but in that regard, you can drink these all night with no problem. For the style, it’s actually pretty good. bu11zeye (5510), Frisco, Texas, USA

Aroma or orange, florals, and biscuit. Flavor of flaxseed, toasted malt, caramel, grassy/citrusy hops, and some tea as it warms to close to room temperature. jayme9874 (756), Hamburg, New York, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | May 31, 2003 Clear, light amber/orange colored, thin but persistent head and half ass lace. Nose of light caramelly malt, grain, oranges, perfumy hops, ringwood yeast and more. Medium-light body, slick fruity yeast flavors, buttery, citrusy and floral hops add a bit of bite. Dry in finish. Well crafted brew but average for my tastes.
