Commercial Description:
Cellar aged, subtly complex and deceptively strong. Using two of the old world's brewing traditions, we have combined British ingredients and methods with Belgian ale qualities.

Golden body with small head receding quickly and some weird-looking strands of stuff hanging in the beer. Aroma of diacetyl and sweaty socks. This is not promising, and I wonder if it is infected. Somewhat fruity, too much alcohol presence.

Sweet peaches interact with clover honey but are clobbered by loads of unpleasant alcohol heat...Body presents beautiful curves and amplitude on the tongue but sadly cannot infuse any new flavors...A roughly-sewn bed sheet with holes of carelessness and biting threads...Thanks CapFlu!!...

Cloudy light amber, 1cm off-white head. Mostly floral aroma with mint and leather notes. Alcool undertones carry the fruitiness into the rear of the nose (pears, dried apricots, peaches). In mouth, it feels pretty stale, not really evolving from the beginning to the end. It’s quite alcoholic. Light dusty yeast make it feel belgian enough, but it remains unbalanced despite the balancing effort with the grassy goldings hops. Great mouthfeel though, very smooth.

Bottle: Though it has actual bananas in it as an ingredient, don’t drink one for breakfast, as I did. In a more lucid state the night before, I noted a unique interpretation of a tripel that lacks the complexity of so many others, but really isn’t so bad. Maybe some pear and/or apple flavors, a hint of banana, reasonable tartness to balance potentially cloying sweetness; but not something I’d drink much of, if I had the opportunity.

Growler from the brewery. Enjoyed about 90 minutes after fill. Very sweet aroma with hints of honey. Pour is difficult to get any sort of head. Slightly hazy honey color. Quite sweet to start and sugary with a nice alcohol burn in the middle. Finishes with some mild bitterness. This is sort of like a Midas Touch in a way. WIsh it were cloudy and had more head. Could use some more yeast in the nose as well. Not as complex as I’d like.

Re-Rate (28-Jul-04 5-3-5-4-11=2.8) Yeasty, meaty smell. Hazy, dark golden with shy white head that recedes to cover. Fine bubbles. Alcohol and strong fruitiness. Excellent smooth creamy mouthfeel. Bottle (sampled with MartinT and Rastacouere). ***** Original Rating (28-Apr-04 6-3-7-3-14=3.3) Sweet caramel malt aroma and a touch of fruit. Clear dark golden body with off-white finger of head. Alcohol is apparent up front and in the finish. Nice, sweet, candy, sugary, malt flavour throughout. Medium body. On tap at TapNY feastival.

Golden color with big head. Aroma of caramel, bananas and yeast. Sticky sweet fantastic taste with a bit of alcohol burn. I did notice a slight mrtalic taste as well, but overall very much worth drinking again.
