Commercial Description:
Cellar aged, subtly complex and deceptively strong. Using two of the old world's brewing traditions, we have combined British ingredients and methods with Belgian ale qualities.

Courtesy of a fine RBerian that I have rudely forgotten to associate with this paticualr beer. <P> Aroma is very vinous and also includes candy sugar, pear and apple. Rich orange/amber in color with a two finger thick head that diminishes slowly. Fore is clean and heavy with pear and apple, candy sugar, caramel, candied oranges and a slight spice in the finish. Much better than I expected I have to be honest. The 64 rating had me prepared for a failed experiemnt, but this is a tasty beer.

12oz bottle shared courtesy of TomDecapolis. Poured a deep and slightly hazy orange color with a small sized off white head. Aromas of oranges, light yeast, caramel, and light spices. Tastes of caramel, fruits, and some alcohol.

Pours a golden amber with a small off white slightly lacing head. Aroma of yeast, orange, light spiciness, caramel and alcohol. Flavors of the same maybe a little lighter than the aroma.

Too bad this beer is retired, must have been recently cause I Just picked up a couple at my local store. This offering pours a dark gold and leaves a thick frothy tan lace. The aroma is fruity, wheat, grass, and a little musty. The taste is sharp, starts with a slight alcohal presence up front then moves to a malty sweet fruit taste. There is a small bitter hop aspect in the background and then finishes a bit harsh on the throat. Overall a decent beer.

Triple Crown Ale pours to a beautiful, bright, deep golden color with a thick and creamy white head, and a good bit of carbonation. The nose on this beer is inviting with lots of good peppery aromas of alcohol, some sweet malt aroma, and some earthy yeast aroma. The palate is firm on the tongue with good pale malt flavors paired with some yeasty/earthy flavor of raw mushroom. Triple Crown finishes with more good malt and yeast flavors up front, then ends with a nice warming alcohol burn that lingers. Very unique, and very flavorful. Like no triple I have ever tasted, but that is to be expected with the use of Ringwood. At 10% abv, Triple Crown makes for a great beer to sip and relax with before or after a meal. Stylistically it lacks as an authentic triple, because it does not use a Belgian strain, but that does not mean it is any less enjoyable. Marketed in 12oz 4 packs retailing for $7-$8, this is a special beer to enjoy slowly with a good book or movie. This beer has its share of critics, but I for one, enjoy the fact that Middle Ages was willing to do something outside the box with this beer.

Bottle shared with HogTownHarry & tupalev -- courtesy of HogTownHarry. Pours a clear golden orange with a small white head. Sweet aroma of sugary yeast, caramel malt and alcohol. The flavour -- whoa, alcohol! This is a little hard to drink. Along with tons of alcohol there’s some yeast, fruit, spices and sweet malt. I found it pretty unbalanced, the alcohol is just way too prominent -- even sharing it 3-ways I had a hard time finishing my share. Not my favourite.

Bottle (12oz). Shared with blankboy and tupalev, my bottle. Poured slightly hazy amber with a small white diminishing head. Very rich aroma of buttery caramel and oak, faint alcohol and yeast. Tasted like more than 10% alcohol, my ears warmed up in seconds, caramel and wood in the flavour, but also notes of spices, pepper and yeast fought with the burning alcohol bitterness - it was nice, but unbalanced, with a very long alcohol-bitter finish. Mouthfeel was alcoholic, bitter, a bit syrupy and flat - it even developed a nice apricot character as it warmed up - overall a bit harsh, but very much a winter warmer - I was happy I didn’t have to drink the whole bottle myself!
