Aroma is moderatley caramel apple with light flowery hops and alcohol. Pours a transparent amber with a small off-white head that diminishes quickly. Flavors of apple with a hint of caramel. Finishes with some mild flowery bitterness, moderate alcohol (flavor and burn) and light acidity. Murphy (1759), Fort Collins, Colorado, USA

Taste has a big alcohol burn as expected. Some candied sweetness as well. Finish reveals some hops. A burner. TheBeerOrg (1583), Kentucky, USA
| 2.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 3/5 | 9/20 | Nov 8, 2005 Pours dark golden with a mostly receding wispy white head. Aroma is sticky butterscotch, rich carmel, and a slight note of alcohol. Taste has noticable alcohol burn, sweet caramelized wort taste, and vague finishing bitterness. Medium bodied with high carbonation. Please don’t mix English and Belgium styles. This is not good. jasonp (1513), Sterling/Dulles, Virginia, USA

Aroma of fresh, floral grassy hops and a little apple. Flavor has notes of toasted malt, caramel, euro and US hops, toffee, pear, spice and honey. Pleasantly sweet, ample hop bitteness on the back end for balance. Alcohol content remarkably well-hidden. Full, round and creamy on the palate with lively, soft-bead carbonation. Quite enjoyable. Possibly the best pour I have ever had. Aroma and flavor is big time English everything. However, used in a Belgian style beer I think it failed. This is probably the first beer I can say smells and tastes like plastic. Some candy sugar and apple in there as well. Alcohol in the finish. Weird, but not good. joconnell85 (5), Atlanta, Georgia, USA does not count | 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Oct 17, 2005 No, it’s not British, not a Tripel, either, but a strong, sticky-lip Belgian-British Ale from an American brewery that’s probably fishing for a label for this beer. It has a mead-like nose, with the same sweet, alcoholic bite, but the bitter memory of hops and the malty drift around the tounge after a sip makes it a warm and friendly beer. | 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 11/20 | Aug 28, 2005 Brilliant orange. Whipped, fine-layered white bubbles form creamy islands as it settles. Dried apricots, clay, leather, and candied malt aroma. Fluffily full carbonation with a hard body. Opens with a firm kiss of Ringwood-generated chalkiness and fruitiness. Malt sweetness picks up as softer touches of dried apricot and banana cream pie lurk in the background. Vanilla and fruitcake pad the fusel sting of alcohol, which steadily rises as it warms, but tons of meatiness is still prevalent. Creamed bananas salvage a small portion of the remaining softness, but dry malts run rampant and coincide with a harsh, earthy dusting of hops and butterscotch. Quite overattenuated and riddled with “off” flavors. Finishes with an odd clash of autolyzed yeast, tannins, and rummy alcohol. A noble concept, but poorly executed. It’s a sort of creamy and slightly fruity scent with a chance of yeast hiding in there too. Appears to be a murky orange that isnt easily visible through. Small head retention and no signs of lace. The flavor is a tad bit strange because of its very malty character and masked yeast flavor. Even so, it has a classic signature of an English ale and mild toned carbonation. I will also mention a notice of spice and metallic side to it as well. Interesting tripel, but no where near to being seriously considered in the top tripel category.
