There’s a caramelized malt, but its fruity in a persimonny peachy kind of way, and then there’s hops galore. Slightly grassy, like new mown hay, but intermeshed with grapefruit rind. Nice ruby red color with a rocky beige head. Flavor is well rounded up front, full on crystal malt heaviness. This is quickly followed up by a peppery spicy hoppiness. Pretty tingly on the tongue with hop resins, it finishes with a big bold bitterness but somehow balanced with the ever-present big fat crystal malts. There’s a touch of a strong hot alcohol linger in the chest and throat. A bit over the top in the big picture. onehotsexychic (101), Albany, New York, USA

| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Apr 21, 2007 22 oz bottle. Color was nice - brownish red. Head was tan and sudsy. Taste was okay, but any maltiness was overpowered by hop flavor. No sharpness, just sweetness. Somewhat unbalanced, but I would still accept the offer for another. Slightly higher alcohol content not really noticeable. realale420 (399), west covina, California, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Apr 1, 2007 22oz bottle (thanks to the epeeist) poured a clear dark red/brown color with a nice off white head. The aroma was a mix of hops, sweet caramel, alcohol and some roastiness. Taste was agressivly bitter, but still drinkable. A strong malt profile tried to balance some of the hops yet fell short. I think this falls more in the Strong Ale category than the Imp. IPA. Should age well. BREWMUSKCLES (1075), New Jersey, USA

DO NOT LET IT GET AWAY! smooth and satisfying. nimbleprop (895), SouthWest, Washington, Washington DC, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Mar 16, 2007 Poured a deep, dark, nutty brown with a clumpy, lacing white head. Smells of soap, pine and flowers. Very sweet flavor, caramel and sweet fruits. Very bitter and citrus finish but also very smooth. Different kind of IIPA but very enjoyable. | 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Mar 9, 2007 Possibly one of the most ’leading’ bottles I’ve seen in a while. Looking past that, I open the bottle, and whew lots of hops. (This is a bottle from a trade so I’m unsure of the age, but it’s been with me for at least 4 months.) So I can just imagine how this would have been fresh. Hoppy and big this brew is really interesting for a IIPA, I’ve yet to see a IIPA this dark. Very flavorful and while not my favorite style, it is something a lot of hopheads would enjoy. gwpom (250), Akron, New York, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Mar 2, 2007 Big Busty Bottle. The aroma hits your nose like a wailing wench, and the hoppy flavor does the same for your tongue. Very dark amber, big foamy head, delicious aftertaste. Not bitter like an IPA but definitely more flavorful than a Pale, this is a very full flavored beer. Cheers!
