Grapefruit and bold malty nose, touches of pine. Well balanced grapefruit and toasty malt - both bold flavors that are working well together. A slight smokiness is detectable. Nice, even citrus bitter finish. Very good! VeloVampire (491), Parkdale, Toronto, Ontario, Canada

Huge head that is really creamy, and is alive forever, I have a feeling it’s leaving lacing all the way down my throat. Nice grapefruit/pine hop aroma, but not as hoppy as I was expecting....pretty neatly balanced with the dark malt (imparting a pleasantly subtle caramel taste), which I’m guessing there are alot of to give the beer the darker colour and temper the hops. Taste is a sweet malt hit right off the bat, but almost immediately switches over to sticky citrusy hops that fill the mouth and then morph into a long bitter finish. Quite nice really. Not the most amazing double IPA I’ve had, but very good, nonetheless. whaleman (2171), North Wales, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Nov 20, 2006 Appealing clear dark amber body that looks viscous for a DIPA. Also has a slow-fading creamy head. Signature Middle Ages butterscotch notes, but not overly detracting as it blends with some sweet toasted and caramel malt plus notes of rum, maple, and light spicy hops. Flavor has black tea and whiskey flavors with a grainy, somewhat astringent bitterness. Slick, juicy palate. Passable despite the bitterness, but pretty lame as far as big IPAs are concerned.

| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Nov 12, 2006 22oz. bomber: This one pours a darker brownish-amber color with a fairly large tan head. Definitely an aroma of hops: just not as much as I would have expected. Some pine seems to be on top. The taste seems a bit light for this tupe of beer. Smooth, but not as much bitterness as I would have expected or liked. Some dryness in the aftertaste. OK, but could be better. cbkschubert (2020), Cochise Co., Arizona, USA

Lots of nice lacing. Has a nice but odd malt aroma. Can’t quite place it. Has an astringent malt flavor. Not your typical DIPA. No real hop presence. Medium body. Maybe I got an old bottle. Anyways, wortha try. Thanks Jason. Ending very bitter with an unpleasant sustaining aftertast. Unfortunately unimpressed, to me, the hops just aren’t balanced right. LyndaNova (497), Manchester, New Hampshire, USA

I couldn’t finsh the bottle.
