Bottle. Pours a deeo reddish brown with a limited head. Nose is fruit, citrus, and hops. Flavor is hopped up raisin ale, very full bodied and viscous. However, this was not what I would define as a 2IPA and was more reminiscent of a barleywine to me than anything else. Interesting brew, but not one to buy again.

1at vendor at the Flour City Brewfest ’06’ that I stopped at. I killed my tastebuds right away on this overly hoppy ale. Alcohol was noticeable in the flavor. I’m just not an IPA lover. I wish I could read what I wrote for the name of their other offering last night. It was more enjoyable.

Good amount of head, nice lacing on the glass. Sweet, hoppy, grapefruit/citrus aroma. Intense hop flavors, grapefruit, citrus, dried fruits, some malt hidden deep down... a bitter, yet fruity finish with a hint of malt and sweetness.

Bottle. Pours a deep reddish brown with white head. Nice aroma of sweet fruity hops, sugary dark fruit, and malt. Flavor..this is a IIPA...uh no! Flavor of sweet raisens and nuts countered by some hops. Finish has some dry chalkiness and butter flavor before the bitterness grabs you. This one is weird and unique. This is like a dry nut brown ale on steroids... I guess. It’s late.

Bottle from Sean (illinismitty) Thanks! Pours out a dark red color. Smell is buttery, spicy, and slightly hoppy. A little grass and grapefruit picked up as well. Taste is weird, rich, and filling, and almost like eating a stick of butter with hops in it. Not like any other IIPA I have ever had, not really sure what I think about this, going to have to finish the bottle to really form an opinion. Its weird to the point that I dont know if I like it.

After talking with Sean about it, I do think the odd flavor I couldnt pick out is the raisens that he picked up. Score stays the same. Took me 2 hours to drink this beer, a first for a double IPA. It is interesting and really complex, maybe too complex (if there is such a thing). Its worth trying, so if you see it snatch one up, and see what you think!

Pours copper with a tan head. Smells perfumy with some weird spicy elements. in stark contrast to the beer I rated before this, the alcohol is prevelent and noticable on the nose. Tastes metallic with earthy tea like hops. No pronounced bitterness. Reminds me more of an ESB then an IIPA.

500ml bottle - the first beer I’ve had from this brewery. Pours dark amber with a thin head. Very fruity aroma and taste, with the massive amount of hops in evidence. This thing does indeed wail with hops. Certainly the hoppiest beer I’ve yet had...lots of bite, very piney. I would prefer maybe a bit more balance, but this is still good...very good.

Thanks to Numenor for this one! Really happy to finally be able to try a beer from these guys. Utterly fantastic aroma of grapefruit and pineapple. Deep amber appearance, decent head. Flavor was floral hoppy with light caramel backbone. Hops not nearly as prevalent in the taste as in the nose. I actually preferred sniffing this over drinking it.
