Sweet malts with touch of hops, yet something was not right. It had nice medium thick body, good bitterness yet..Nothing that out of ordinary. DougShoemaker (2856), Toronto, Canada
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Nov 30, 2003 Pronounced hoppy aroma, deep red, small cream head. Slightly hoppy flavour, given the aroma. Medium bodied, nice bitter finish. Enjoyable. frylock (1026), Buffalo, New York, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Nov 25, 2003 Malty slightly spiced aroma. Dark amber color with a small white head. Good balance, but nothing special, a little spice. I have had several brews with ringwood yeast in them tonight, and they all have a similar taste. 1more4dessert (231), Upstate, New York, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Nov 17, 2003 very nice and true to style, dark amber, resembles Young's Special London Ale. Excellent balance, crisp. Lots of Fuggles and Goldings? Alcohol just faintly emerges. Glad I bought a sixpack BBB63 (4271), La Porte, Indiana, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jul 19, 2003 Deep copper hue with small off-white head and minimal lacing. Fruity , spicy, and earthy, vinous nose. Very similar to many fine vintage ales. Thick creamy and lively mouthfeel. The taste started sweet and fruity but became well balanced by tangy hops and dry woodiness. Slight lingering of alcohol and bitters on the finish, dry feel. This is an English strong dressed up as an winter/holiday ale. I did like this a lot, good attempt at the style. UnionMade (621), Connecticut, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Apr 19, 2003 Very, very awesome. This was my first Middle Ages beer, and I've been enchanted with their labels and the whole medieval thing. I didn't know what to expect, but i was pleasantly surprised to find that it's extremely british in style, all the way down to the particular hopping. I thought it tasted a lot like Brakspear Vintage Henley. Strong flavor, agressive hoppiness, a bit of alcohol taste, and a smooth sweetness. Right on, brothers. | 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Apr 10, 2003 Big sweet fruity nose. Deep orange-copper hue. Nice foamy beige head. Lightly fruity, butterscotch, light dustiness, creamy body, finihses very smooth, light bitterness. Quite drinkable, great session brew. With warmth this beer grows oh so seductive. Magically delicious, oh yes. muzzlehatch (4427), Burlington, Vermont, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Feb 22, 2003 Bottled. Clear dark amber, small lasting head. Aroma of caramel and burning wood, intense and lovely. Flavor profile reminiscent of old dusty boards, creme brulee and Scotch pine, intense, interesting but ultimately not all that drinkable. Very biter at the finish. I would like to try it again.....or would I?
