Commercial Description:
Inspired by local artist & roaster Michael Allen's eccentricly-named blend of coffee beans, Midnight Sun's brewers designed a beer recipe and infusion process that perfectly captures the alluring aroma, satisfying flavor and curious legend of Allen's Arctic Rhino Coffee. Arctic Rhino Coffee Porter combines two quintessential Pacific Northwest favorites: coffee and ale. The result is wonderfully romantic and robust--a duel-fueled porter that melds charismatic dark malt with freshly roasted coffee beans. The (un)rest is up to you.

Thanks for sharing, bro! C’mon Ross......this is ancient! Pours a pitch black with medium mocha head. Aroma is cardboard, some plastic, stale dry coffee grounds. Taste is much the same. Didn’t hold up well.....pretty dry and lame.

Thanks for the trade Ross. 2008 bottle, I’m not sure as the notch is a bit off. Aroma is strangely similar to the Viking Hot Chocolate. Aroma is slight chocolate, old stale gas station coffee. Taste is hot herbs, chocolate, stale coffee and light hops. I think this isn’t the beste interpretation of the beer due to the age and coffee not holding up well. However, still glad I got to try some Midnight Arctic Rhino. BTW, where is my Doggie claws?

bottle shared at February Beer Advocate stout tasting. Pours black with a brown head. Nose was subdued as they served this too cold. Amateurs. Taste was of chocolate and coffee. Mouthfeel was medium and carbonated with a dry finish.

[1824-20081022] 22floz bottle. Sweet bubbly coffee grounds aroma with dry wood and mild plastic. Dark black brown body with a big long-lasting foamy light tan head. Bubbly flavour is like dry charred wood roasting on a bed of coffee grounds. Full body has lots of bubbles. Nice coffee, seems a little over-carbonated (don’t often say that before) but otherwise fair and interesting.

Bottle. Pours a shiny jet black with a medium tan head. Nose is malty with a strong freshly brewed coffee tone. Real good strong coffee flavors although a little subdued, oat flavors adds nicely. Mouth is medium bodied as would expect with the alcohol level. Wonderful flavors, great for a session beer.

Sampled at Backus’ Backyard Bash. Dark brown with a thin beige head. Dry cocoa powder throughout. Coffee with vanilla notes. Meh.

22 oz. bottle. Pours very dark black, with a tan head. Extremely strong aroma of coffee. Coffee also dominates the taste, which is not a bad thing. Very good overall.

Bomber. Pours a faily dark black with one finger of persistent beige head. The aroma is a floral roast of coffee, a little bit of chocolate, a few vanilla and toffee hints, and a little bit of bark. The flavor is ash, chocolate, and coffee. The coffee again is acidic and floral, which I’m not entirely sure was the best sort of roast to use. There are some wood and vanilla notes toward the finish, which sports a mild ashy bitterness. Decent beer, but could have been better.
