The flavor is nice, mostly bitter chocolate, roasted malt and a crisp finish. DrBayern (1137), Morehead City, North Carolina, USA
| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 18/20 | Oct 29, 2007 Shared with my brother who brought this back from a recent trip to Alaska. Pours an oily black with a thick brown head that proves very durable. Dark chocolate and rich roasted coffee aroma with some subtle woody notes. Full body, light carbonation, a little oiliness, and an enjoyable chewiness combine in a great mouthfeel. Nicely balanced between the dark maltiness and a softly bitter dry finish. The oak aging isn’t a major statement, but rather a subtlety that adds to the complexity. Too bad this doesn’t make it down to the lower 48 on a commercial basis. Because of that, it’s flying pretty much under the radar. BrianK (190), Livingston, New Jersey, USA

Was a really wonderful Imperial Stout my only complaint about that beer was that it smelled very alcoholic. Probably needs to sit for a year or two to smooth that out. Anyway, I really enjoyed the mellow yet bold and full flavored body. Definately a nice brew. IrishBoy (2719), Bakersfield, California, USA

Nose of chocolate, light vanilla from the BAing, and the woodiest nose of any BA beer I have had; opaque black, brown edges, with a beautiful medium cinnamon-tan head; flavor of chocolate, oak, light coffee and bready notes, Alcohol well covered with a bit of hop bitterness for the finish.
