Aug 12, 2009 Pours dark brown with a velvety, slightly lighter brown head. Smells of roasted malt, chocolate, some toffee, some cherries. Tastes of chocolate, spicy, some licorice, some fruity hints, dry on the finish.

Jul 18, 2009 Bottle shared by stopbarking. Thanks! Pours dark black with a tan head. Smell is rich chocolate and graham crackers with some red wine in the background, and dry roast. Definite notes of wine barrels. Some chalky roast in the flavor. Tasty. ABV is hidden well. Thin body to other stouts this strength, but the smell and flavor are very nice.

Jul 11, 2009 2008 bottle. Pure black with a lasting brown head. Lots of coffee and cream in the nose with a but of a nuttiness and berries. Mild and easy to drink flavor. We have a bit of a smore character here. Full body and a little sticky. Pretty good stuff here.

Jun 12, 2009 100th rating of this brew. 2008 bottling. Black with a frothy dark brown head. Aroma is black licorice with whisky wood vanilla and black malts. Lightly carbonated, smooth chewy mouthfeel. Great flavor is again black licorice herb and rich, black roasted malts, with an oaky vanilla and dark pit fruit sweetness. Fantastic friggin’ stout.

Jun 1, 2009 22. Thanks, SuzyGreenberg! Pours opaque black with a tan head. Vanilla, chocolate and coffee aroma. Medium body and light carbonation. Lightly sweet chocolate, caramel, bourbon and coffee taste with a soft, oaky finish. Very nice.

May 26, 2009 Had at Hophead22’s Imperial Stout Tasting. Thanks Tim. Black with a dark brown short lived head. Chocolate, raisin, and malt aroma. Roasted coffee, grain, and bitter chocolate taste. The barrel aging didn’t really come through.

May 25, 2009 Sampled with Carr Valley cocoa-crusted goat cheese. Almost entirely black with a very dark brown head. Stingingly pungent, with rich dark fruits and dark chocolate. Sugary thick body is almost like a Cuban coffee. Very tasty - hints some sweet high notes, and only has a slight bourbon inflection. Nice brew.

May 25, 2009 2008, thanks to Daknole. Lovely black looks with lasting tan head and lacing like cuneiform. Gorgeous compacted, concentrated aromas, mild coffee and really subtle chocolate. Smooth and creamy. Barrel is apparent but not broadcasted. Very nice. Has some strength but very very smooth and good. Yum.
