The nose presents notes of maple syrup, praline and almond brittle. Full-bodied with a fatty mouthfeel and lazy carbonation. Sweet and caramely up front; bitter as Hell on the backside. The high ABV is not evident. Lengthy, bittersweet finish. Bottle courtesy of juiceisloose sebletitje (1997), Tampa, Florida, USA

Smells pretty bready with dark fruits and caramel cream combined. Fairly standard barley wine nose. The flavor was nice and sharp, with a noticeable hop character that was nowhere in the nose, especially present in the finish. Dark fruits and caramel formulate the body of this brew. Typical well crafted beer from these guys. puzzl (2648), New York, New York, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Oct 20, 2009 Bottled from Hannont. Minor head. Rough, peachy and corn aroma, brutish and sweet and fairly unrefined. Rough and tumblin’, pure American barleywine flavor, as brutish and tough as you can get. Tons of bitter hops. I can find little else to say about this beer. It’s just not very good. dchmela (1458), Orlando, Florida, USA
