Commercial Description:
This kick ass American Barley Wine is all about hops —Nugget, Chinook, Simcoe and Centennial. And, yeah, LoTs of ‘em. OK…there’s a substantial malt base on which these juicy Pacific NW hops lie down and do their dirty work. Maybe that’s too much info…

Bottle… October ‘09 O-Town Throwdown!… Clear copper ale with a small, quickly dissipating, white head. The nose presents notes of maple syrup, praline and almond brittle. Full-bodied with a fatty mouthfeel and lazy carbonation. Sweet and caramely up front; bitter as Hell on the backside. The high ABV is not evident. Lengthy, bittersweet finish. Bottle courtesy of juiceisloose

October ‘09 O-Town Throwdown, cheers to juiceisloose. Pours amber, beige head. Aroma is malty, caramel, hint sof bitterness, light fruits. Flavor, malty, caramel, barley, some hops, grainy / malty mouthfeel, ends with some bitterness and fruits. Overall palate has a pronounced hop bitter profile.

Courtesy juiceisloose. Thanks brother. Pours a hazelnut brown with a small off white head. Smells pretty bready with dark fruits and caramel cream combined. Fairly standard barley wine nose. The flavor was nice and sharp, with a noticeable hop character that was nowhere in the nose, especially present in the finish. Dark fruits and caramel formulate the body of this brew. Typical well crafted beer from these guys.

Bottled from Hannont. Minor head. Rough, peachy and corn aroma, brutish and sweet and fairly unrefined. Rough and tumblin’, pure American barleywine flavor, as brutish and tough as you can get. Tons of bitter hops. I can find little else to say about this beer. It’s just not very good.

Tasted at Otown Throwdown courtesy Juiceisloose. Caramel brown pour. Big resiny hop and toffee aroma. Thick hops, toffee malt, dry spicy taste. Big ass BW.

Courtesy juiceisloose. Amber, white head. Big, bitter, resinous, sweet American barleywine, midnight sun style. Great stuff.
