Commercial Description:
When the loveable "hopheads" at Humpy's Great Alaskan Alehouse requested a winter version of alehouse favorite Sockeye Red IPA, our brewers instinctively spawned CoHoHo Imperial IPA. CoHoHo begins with generous measures of pale two-row and specialty malts along with spirit-boosters like maple syrup, brown sugar and honey. Hefty doses of Cascade, Centennial and Simcoe hops beautifully balance that outrageous malt bill and heighten the festive character of this exuberant beer. Whatever the celebration, make merry with CoHoHo Imperial IPA.

Mullman brought this to the last HWOH. THank!! Pours a medium amber slight haze a thin lasting off white head. Aroma is citrusy and pine - maybe chinook and columbus? Citrusy and mint hop flavors with a nice strong crystal malt backbone. Smooth mouthfeel and a very strong bitter finish. Awesome DIPA.

12/05 bottle shared by Blake. Clear brown body, small tan head. Cooked banana, lemon peel, and chocolately coffee cake aroma. Not a hop monster. The flavor brings in a sweet toffee/caramel flavor under tasty mandarin orange, lemon grass, and acidic rhubarb. A well-done IIPA.

Thrid wee of Dec. 2005 bottle. The beer pours to a garnet hued copper body with a thin off-white head. Spotty lacing. The aroma is piney, sprucey, resins, citrus, sugary malt. The flavor is piney/sprucey/grapefruity with lingering resins. Decently malty and definitely sugary. The palate has a lingering resin. Smooth feel. Definite alcohol.

amberish brown color visable carbonation and a big thick light tan head w/ some great lacing. Smells nice.. sweet hoppy aroma great pine and citurs w/ a nice full carmel. Palate is biting.. oily full and creamy. Flavor is very bitter tastes of dry hopped malt comes through late. A lot of dry pine resin that i thought detracted, but good.

I just got this from Liquid Solutions with my FFTW order. Dec 2003 bottle! I will re-rate when I get a fresh one. Huge creamy tan head over a deep amber body. Malty rich aroma with the vestiges of a big piney presence. Now, this is very much like a Big Hoppy Monster, dark and malty with lots of hops that serve in a supporting, not dominant role. Still lots of hops, but the malt is coming through from the aging. Sweet, with a touch of spice. No longer hop heavy as it might have once been. Full and smooth bodied.

rich dark copper with a one inch head. Very rich hop aroma with pine scents and sugars from the malt. Dark malt flavour with dry hops and grapefruit. Roasted almost burnt sugar cookies and citrus hops. Noticeable alcohol. Almost a smoked IPA.

22 oz bottle - if the markings on it were right, this was a 2003. Pours out dark red in color, smell is malty, and smells like hop oil. Taste is grassy, sharp, and dry. Its not bad, my taste for the double IPAs is slowly fading, I still like them alot, but the over the top bitterness is getting to me. Double IPAs used to be refreshing, and I still find some that are, but it seems that the growing trend is to just make them taste like you are eating a hop rather than balancing it out to get something that actually tastes good yet has a high bitterness too.
