Bottle: The aroma consists of chocolate, coffee, and a sort of tangy plumminess. It pours a dark brown with not transparency and a small beige head. The flavor is real fruity throughout with grape and plum along with some light candi sugar and yeast. It finish with some light chocolate notes and spice. Not overly complex, but rather tastey. It’s somewhat Unibroue-ish with a lighter yeastiness and softer carbonation. bager (2121), Copenhagen N, Denmark

| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jul 9, 2007 Sampled at RBSG ’07 Grand Tasting room, thanks to Bu11zeye for sharing (though I believe he originally had this in his stash cooler). Pours an opaque dark brown brew with a thin off-white head that quickly dissolves. Aroma is roasted chocolate malt, molasses, and some raisin/prunes. Taste is full bodied, thick and creamy, the some flavors of citrus, figs and some flowery hops. Finish is light sweet with some dried fruit aftertaste. bhensonb (4271), Woodland, California, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 5/5 | 14/20 | Jul 8, 2007 Aroma of chocolate underlaid by dark fruit. Opaque brown/black color with a very tan head that filmed pretty fast. Full bodied. Slightly fizzy. Carmel/sugar sweet. Dark malt flavor, but it isn’t burnt. A slight sour, like plum skin. The finish is something like chocolate with some bitter, with a dark fruity sweetness all over the mouth. That said, it is relatively dry. Contradictory might have been a good alternate name for this one. The dark malt does take away some of the traditional Belgian aspect. Interesting way to broaden the beer horizon.
