BEER LINE: "The Way Down"
2009 Crew Brew Series: Heading into 2009, the NINE of us will each designnamebrew a beer to be released in 2009. We are all very excited about this series. It’s a great way to “freeze” this time and space – right before we jump into the new place and add new folks. These NINE beers will be fabulously eclectic and delicious.

Creator of This Beer: Kourtney, aka K-Dogg...aka K-Tron, is our hotdog boardercyclistbrewer. K-Dogg works and plays harder than most...and he’s got the scars to prove it. His beer was inspired by the Belgian beers he enjoys after an incredible day on one of his boards or bikes or in the brewhouse. Created as a tribute to the monk-ethic that produces beautiful beer through spiritual dedication to centuries-old standards, DESCENT celebrates "the way down".

Sampled from 22-oz bomber during Darkness Day 2009 in Brooklyn Center, MN. Pours a semi-hazy copper amber colored brew with a long lasting off-white head that leaves behind some sticky lacing. Aroma of toffee and caramel malts, Belgian yeast, a hint of candi sugar and some cotton candy. Taste is medium to full bodied, with flavors of caramel malt, candi sugar, some banana esters, yeast and a touch of raisin. Finish has a little alcohol presence with a candi sugar and caramel aftertaste.

Lots of raison and dried fruit. Sweet, with yeast and alcohol. Clearly recognizable as a Belgian strong, the flavors are all correct. It reminded me of Val Dieu. Sweet finish.

22 oz. bottle - thanks frank!! pours orange brown that is clear against the light; off white head; musky aromas of figs, yeasty spice, raisins and malty goodness; quite dry and mildly rich in an quad-like way; figs, raisins, candy syrup and other dark fruit; perhaps a little too sweet for me as the all flavors don’t quite come together; lots going on, just a little messy

22oz bottle from treyrab, big thanks as usual to Trey. Rating #16. Dark amber, copper pour with a thin white head. fruity, slightly sweet, raisins are slightly evident. Flavor was a little toasty and a little spicy, it had that dried fruit sweetness to it, pretty enjoyable. 񡹷)

Bottle: The aroma consists plum, raisin, faint chocolate, and candi sugar. It pours a hazy, bordering on cloudy, dark reddish-brown with a moderate off-white head that leaves behind nice lacing. The flavor starts with moderate sweet plum, Belgian yeast, and some faint chocolate in the background. The finish has some raisin and faint spiciness. Medium bodied with lively, but soft, carbonation.
