BEER LINE: "The Way Down"
2009 Crew Brew Series: Heading into 2009, the NINE of us will each designnamebrew a beer to be released in 2009. We are all very excited about this series. It’s a great way to “freeze” this time and space – right before we jump into the new place and add new folks. These NINE beers will be fabulously eclectic and delicious.

Creator of This Beer: Kourtney, aka K-Dogg...aka K-Tron, is our hotdog boardercyclistbrewer. K-Dogg works and plays harder than most...and he’s got the scars to prove it. His beer was inspired by the Belgian beers he enjoys after an incredible day on one of his boards or bikes or in the brewhouse. Created as a tribute to the monk-ethic that produces beautiful beer through spiritual dedication to centuries-old standards, DESCENT celebrates "the way down".

Bottle: The aroma consists plum, raisin, faint chocolate, and candi sugar. It pours a hazy, bordering on cloudy, dark reddish-brown with a moderate off-white head that leaves behind nice lacing. The flavor starts with moderate sweet plum, Belgian yeast, and some faint chocolate in the background. The finish has some raisin and faint spiciness. Medium bodied with lively, but soft, carbonation.

Nice sweet/malt nose with a hint of mild spice....a dark amber appearance and slowly falling creamy head.. Classic Abbey flavor with a taste of the fruit at the end. Very well done Dogg.

Thanks again to "AKfaust" for this treat! Colour... cloudy copper. Nose... sweet with dried stone fruits. Palate... definetly Abbey! Slightly cloying, more stone fruit as well as dark and golden raisins. Long, sweet coating finish!

Pours dark brown with a white head. Aroma is plum, fig, earth, yeast and caramel. Flavor is plum, fig, toffee and a bit of chocolate. Nice body and really nice. Very nice beer that reminds me a bit of Westy 12.

Sampled from 22-oz bomber during Darkness Day 2009 in Brooklyn Center, MN. Pours a semi-hazy copper amber colored brew with a long lasting off-white head that leaves behind some sticky lacing. Aroma of toffee and caramel malts, Belgian yeast, a hint of candi sugar and some cotton candy. Taste is medium to full bodied, with flavors of caramel malt, candi sugar, some banana esters, yeast and a touch of raisin. Finish has a little alcohol presence with a candi sugar and caramel aftertaste.

bottle thanks to brewboone. Pours a dark brown with a lovely tan head. Nose is of raisins. Taste is of strong raisin and meat. A little burnt. Mouthfeel is creamy. This reminded me some of their gruit brew.

Clear ruby red color with a lasting tan head. Earthy, yeasty aromas of figs, dates, watermelon with sweet spices. Rich, frothy mouthfeel. Very good malty sweet pit fruit flavors with earthy yeast, spices, and seedy wood grain. With six months in the bottle this one is aging nicely. Great job Kourtney, Wherever you are now !!
