Shag (1777), Chattanooga, Tennessee, USA Jun 4, 2008 A black color with a tan head. The aroma is chocolate, milk, coffee, and oatmeal. The flavor is rather roasty with some milk chocolate, dark fruit, and coffee. Overall this is a pretty damn good stout.

Burnt toast, grains, bitter chocolate, some caramel sweetness, and noticable lactic acid. Grassy bitterness in the finish. Layer of beige head. Aromas of cocoa and chocolate, with a touch caramel. Candy and cookies. Medium to full bodied with a lively effervescence. Sweet base malts with a slight burnt character. Aroma of roasted malts, cocoa, vanilla, smoke, and some dark fruitiness. Taste of roast, smoke, lactose, bitter dark chocolate, vanilla, and more dark fruits. Aroma of dark bitter chocolate, some tropical fruits, roasted malt, some coffee notes and light roasted nuts. Flavor of roasted malt, light smoke, some hop flavor, bitter Belgian Chocolate, earthy, some smoke, light caramel, some coffee. Loads of flavor, a bit thin, but with the aroma and flavor you are almost thinking it’s going to be an imperial stout. Tingly carbonation.
