| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | May 1, 2008 Updated: May 6, 2008Bomber sampled in mid April ’08....seeing how the first ratings were in April ’07... I can only assume this is a yearly batch? It sure didn’t taste a year old. Either way - I seemed to dig this more than most. This is hefty but crazy drinkable. Packed with a hefty malt dose, but manages to pull through the bitterness. Tangy fruits dance around with the sticky, caramel covered pine cones. This shit is really, really solid - gives me thought of fresh yulesmith amped up a notch. Considering they were going for such a fat beer, I can’t find anything extremely unenjoyable or wrong with this. Except that the fact that one glass is enough. blutt59 (2147), Dallas, Texas, USA

| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Apr 5, 2008 I thought this was just a little overpowering, more of a nod to the dumb downed west coast styles, nothing but hops here, floral to bitter, down to grassy and buttery in the finish. Has kind of a candied caramel malt backbone, but nothing can stand up to the hop onslaught here
Very true to its name. travita (1941), Frisco, Texas, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Mar 22, 2008 Copper color with a decent white lacy head. Floral and slight citrus in the smell. A pleasing bitterness. Nice mouthful. Better and better as you keep drinking. Hops flavored with the citrus and grassy notes coming through. bu11zeye (5608), Frisco, Texas, USA

Pours clear copper with a slight chill haze. A dense, white head built to a full two inches and remained for several minutes. The high krauesen of foam slowly receded to a partial skim coat on the surface, revealing exaggerated strings of lacy froth.
Aromatics are floral and pungent. Tangerines and peaches make thier presense known, as well as spruce oil-laced grapefruit. A promise of alcohol comes forward under the tropical resins, and a light maltiness follows through.
The mouthfeel is crisp, drying, and resinous. Sticky and sappy.
The pallet is dominated by aggresive hopping. The bitterness is as subtle as a buzzsaw on the tongue, but does not cross into harsh territory. Loads of hopping in the flavor of the brew also. Heavy on the grapefruit, with the peach/ pear/ orange character in the background. Maltiness is at a minimum, but still adding a decent backbone to the weight of the hops.
Finishes with an extremely lingering crisp dryness, grapefruit pith, warming alcohols and a tongue-scraping bitterness.
A huge IIPA from Midnight Sun, and damn fresh.

| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Feb 21, 2008 Bomber (thanks to robertburns) poured a hazy copper with a lasting amber head. Aromas of pine, earthiness, grapefruit and light carmel. Palate was light to medium bodied and smooth. Flavors of carmel, citrus, metal and light earthiness with a dry lingering bittreer finish. The mettallic taste really killed this one for me.
