Nose of cereal grains, red fruit, and oak. Flavors have a lot going on. Cherries, chocolate, oak, toasted malts, alcohol and vanilla. Spicy and tart flavors are on top of that crossbreed of styles. Many good notes, but as a whole it doesn’t pull it off. Thanks to Kan though for this rare beer! tytoanderso (1387), St. Louis Park, Minnesota, USA

A bit too much going on and not coming together all that well. Aroma of heavy Belgian yeast. Tart cherry skin. Light alcohol and hop notes. Mild, toasty malt presence. Pours a dark, dark amber/brown. Flavor is muddled. Too much going on. Cherry and vanilla. Dry and spicy yeast. Some light wood tannin. Brett? Bitter chocolate. Medium bodied. Creamy. Lively carbonation with some lingering alcohol and tartness on the finish. drewbeerme (2277), Chicago, Illinois, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Apr 6, 2008 22oz bottle. shared by Kan! at P4. pours dark red with tan head. aroma of caramel, cherries, and chocolate. flavors are muddled with oak, cherries, some bourbon, sort of a mess here. not much brett and i think the bourbon might be throwing everything off instead of providing some cohesion. pantanap (1346), Chicago, Illinois, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Apr 5, 2008 another bottle from the man who i will not name. thanks tim...... pours pretty dark. a dark brown to be exact with brown edges and a thinnish yet decent frothy light brown head..... aroma of cherry, vaniila, and tartness coming from the brett. the brett def comes through more assertively than the the bourbon aging which doesn’t really surface.....wow this is just creamy smooth. sour tart cherries come through in the flavor but overall this isn’t doing it for me. it’s an amalgamation of flavors that isn’t too distinctful and doesn’t come together. puzzl (2619), New York, New York, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Mar 30, 2008 Bottled. What’s the deal with this beer? Where is the brett? Where are the cherries? What a mess. Aroma is mostly bourbony vanilla, muddy malts and maybe a hint of a touch of a piece of sourness. Flavor is slightly more redeeming, most is still mostly bourbon, with no sour notes to be found. Tough to drink, with almost no complexity. WOW, did the bourbon barrel ruin this beer. Once in a while in really big sips you’ll get a bit of cherry. That’s it. How can people even like this? A total failure. ratman197 (3206), Arvada, Colorado, USA

Flavors of vanilla, b ourbon, oak, toffee and light cherry with a smooth lingering bittersweet finish, bu11zeye (5470), Frisco, Texas, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Mar 23, 2008 (Bottle) Pours a murky brown body with a medium beige head. Aroma of dark fruit, sour cherry, mustiness, light coffee, wood, and vanilla. Flavor of oak, toasted dark bread, light brett character, vanilla, and caramel malt. | 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Mar 21, 2008 Bottle thanks to timmcd64, sampled on 2/1/08: Pours a transparent dark mahogany with ruby hues and a wispy-lacing dark tan head. Aroma of dry woodsy earthy vanilla with some black cherries and faint funk and corn starch. Starts fairly full and earthy dark caramely sweet with some nice oaky bourbon complexity and black cherry balance. The brett hasn’t made its presence too well known yet, but should only increase the comlexity of this brew in the future.
