kramer (2430), Sunbury, Pennsylvania, USA Nov 18, 2009 22 oz bottle. Pours a dark brown, almost black, body with a fleeting fizzy light brown head that remained as a thin ring. The nose is just beautiful. Says it right there in the name: Chocolate, pumpkin, and oak all blending seamlessly. Great subtle spices play off of the chocolate malt really well. Just a little bit of oakiness. Beautiful complex and softly subtle flavor, the cocoa powder and pumpkin lead the way, but the nutmeg and clove work wonders on the back end. Very light on the oak, just a subtle raw wood taste on the finish before the cocoa powder comes on and lingers forever. Medium bodied with one of the softest textures that I can remember. Perfect gentle carbonation. This is just s beautiful beer. juiceisloose (661), Windermere, Florida, USA Nov 16, 2009 Bomber courtesy Seabass. Pours a very dark chocolate brown color with a tight, small foamy tan colored head that leaves a sudsy wash behind on the glass. The aroma shows a dry cocoa malt mase with pumpkin flesh, oak, vanilla, along with some cinnamon and nutmeg spices. The flavor follows the same lines with the semi-sweet chocolate and pumpkin flesh proving to be a perfect match. The vanilla and oak notes bring everything together with some bitter chocolate adding further depth. The nutmeg , cinnamon, and clove spices are subtle throughout, which allows the rich chocolate pumpkin flavors to come through. Medium bodied and ultra smooth with a creamy mouthfeel and balanced carbonation. This one finishes with the dry cocoa and spices on the backend. This is what a pumpkin beer should be. The oak aging really adds to the flavors of this one. Awesome beer. cgarvieuk (4171), Edinburgh, Scotland Oct 29, 2009 Bottle at home ... oh i cant thank SanTa FUN summer 2009 and for thsi one... Pours dark brown, off-white head.
Aroma of pumpkin, chocolate, spices; nutmeg, and bready, hints of oak.
Flavor, lots of pumpkin, now this is my idea of a pumpkin beer, chocolate malts with hints of bitterness. The barrel is present with a nice oak palate. Bready malts, medium carbonation, some spices; nutmeg, hints of cinnamon.
Everything about this beer is so well balanced. Tasty!
nickd717 (1320), Palo Alto, California, USA Oct 26, 2009 Bottle generously shared thanks to Nick3 on BA. Pours just about black with a creamy tan head and some lacing. Aroma is lots of oak, pumpkin, spices, chocolate, and roasted malt. Flavor is loads of rich chocolate, caramel, roasted malt, pumpkin, spices, and oak barrel notes. Was this -bal aged or just aged on oak chips? If I had to lay my money down, I’d put it on -bal aging. This had great -bal notes. Palate is silky smooth with soft carbonation. Overall, the closest beer I’ve had to this is The Bruery Autumn Maple -Bal Aged. That was good, and this is damn good. mgumby10 (1844), Jupiter, Florida, USA Oct 22, 2009 Courtesy seabass. Pours dark brown with a light tan head. Smells of rich dark chocolate malts, and pumpkin combines, which was really nice. Kind of oaky as well. The flavor was also a blend of the two, which gave it a creamy vanilla nuance. The pumpkin and dark malts went together well and finished quite smooth because of its oaky texture. Awesome brew. dchmela (1426), Orlando, Florida, USA Oct 19, 2009 Tasted at Otown Throwdown courtesy Seabass. Dark brown pour. Huge pumpkin aroma with hints of chocolate and barrel. Smooth chocolate malt taste, vanilla and touches of pumpkin. Spectacular. SoLan (1411), Orlando, Florida, USA Oct 18, 2009 Courtesy seabass. Dark brown, tan carbonation. Great blend of strong porter, oak, pumpkin, and fall spices. Awesome.
