Pours a murky, chocolate-brown color; medium-tan head with solid fine-bubbled lacing. Very toasty: chocolate, pumpkin, and woody vanilla notes in the aroma. Medium-to-full mouthfeel: chewy, toasted oak and vanilla, lightly toasted malts, and soft spices and milk chocolate; very soft, generous spicing and milk chocolate and chewy nougats; excellent, chewy beer; quite similar to the non-barrel-aged version. Lengthy finish: nougat, milk chocolate, and lightly toasted malts. Very good stuff. Cletus (5058), Connecticut, USA

This one definitely had the pumpkin aroma and flavor with roasted chocolate. I’m not a big fan of the pumpkin ales though. Cheers! mkobes (2104), paramus, New Jersey, USA

| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | May 15, 2008 Bottle, thanks to puzzl for sharing this spectacle. Black pour, no head. Aroma is sweet malt, nice spiced pumpkin, a small amount of roasted malt, and sweet milk chocolate. Flavor has hints of wood, lots of sweet chocolate, light roast, and a little bit of the pumpkin spicing is still there (although not as apparent as in the aroma). I enjoyed this style more than any imperial stout I have had recently. puzzl (2649), New York, New York, USA

Delicious aroma, every smell yields a different flavor. Reads just like the label, along with some peanut brittle and potato. Body is totally smooth, very mellow, light spices and subtle milk chocolate. Not bid by any means, but very complex, relaxed, just a great drinker. Wish this beer was easily available. Flavor is basically what the label says. Its a bit acidic with still tons of chocolate. Not overly impressed.
