OSLO and Guerde’s Memorial Weekend Tasting, 5/23/08. Thanks to Guerde. Black color with a thin head. Lots of cloves, alspice and chocolate in the aroma. The flavor is even better than I was hoping for... nutmeg, cloves, light ginger, along with actual pumpkin. Very dry chocolate. For being ’Imperial’, the alcohol was barely noticeable. Yum!

Poured from a 22 oz. bottle, warm chocolate brown with a glow of ruby around the rim. Some leafy spice in a chocolate and pungent pumpkin warmed aroma. Flavor is full of cocoa, vanilla beans, floral spice, and nutmeg. Pumpkin warmth is slow to arrive but lends a rich, unique sweetness in the mid palate. Roasted rustic character tends to temper the adjuncts quite perfectly, not wholly silencing them but simply reining them in a bit. Palate is crisp and medium in body; warm and generous with a feathery touch. Finishes with a decadent spicy sweetness that tapers off reticently, slowly. Amazing balance throughout. Gorgeous. Thanks Andy!

Sampled at OSLO/Guerde’s Memorial Day tasting. Shared by both Olso and Guerde. Pours an opaque dark brown brew with a fast dissolving beige head that dissipates to a fine film and no ring. Aroma of toasted dark malt, some nutmeg and mincemeat pie filling, cloves and a touch of cinnamon. Taste is toasted dark malt, nutmeg/cloves with a touch of cinnamon. Finish is toasty dark malt and some clove aftertaste. Not much in pumpkin flavor but definitely the pumpkin spice and character.

Courtesy of gunhaver. Pours deep brown with tan head. Yep, as expected the aroma has a lot of notes as pointed out in the name of the beer with chocolate, roasted malts, pumpkin and pumpkin pie spices. I think the notes go pretty well together. The taste has pumpkin mixed with dark roasty malts and some rich dark chocolate and malt roastiness. Nice tasting brew that would go nicely for dessert.

Thanks for sharing Jake. Just not a big fan of this beer. I think part of this has to be with the fact that I am just not a big fan or the style, or porters in general. Rich caramel maltiness, with some pumpkins spices int he background, with a bit of mild cinnamon and anise. The finish is slightly bland and quite thin.

Bottle courtesy gunhaver. Pours black with a small tan head. Huge aroma of pumpkin pie, roasted malt, coffee, and chocolate. Taste is the same as aroma with a touch of caramel. Medium full mouthfeel with a mild to moderate amount of bitterness and smooth alcohol. Strange and different but good.

Chocolate, spice and pumpkin aroma. Super rich pumpkin pie flavor. Very little hoppiness; dry and tart finish. A unique beer with a long name, but it’s great tasting stuff!
