| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 2/5 | 15/20 | Feb 20, 2009 Bottle. Medium to thick ring of bubbles, medium to dark brown. Nose-muted, dark Belgian yeasts/esters. Taste-metal, high CO2, brown sugar, scorched molasses, medium hot, aluminum, very “Quad” tasting with out being too sweet. A solid perfectly executed Quad. I am calling bull on the 14.3 % ABV, it is no where to be felt or found. Pours with a huge, brown head and a hazy brown body. Good retention and great lacing. A few floaties. Aroma of pear, candi sugar, dark fruits, alcohol, apple, spice (licorice or anise), and a touch of oak. Taste is rich with candi sugar, chocolate, dirt, caramel and a bit of wine. No alcohol but slightly metallic. Syrupy mouthfeel. Not really a strong Cabernet Savignon presence at all. The barrel aging is really not well pronounced. Swalden28 (1531), McKinney, Texas, USA

Aroma of dark fruit and malt. Flavor is sweet, dark fruit, malty, alcohol, has some heat to it. Mouthfeel is full body with high, fizzy carbonation. Overall, pretty good stuff.. | 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Feb 20, 2009 Bottle shared by Larry thanks for another brew off my wants list! awesome. Pours a dark brown body with 2 finger yellow head. Sweet with cinnamon spices, oak says cab barrels but im getting a more vegetative aroma here. Moderate alcohol warming especially given the abv percentage. Then just loads of grainy caramel body all the way. puzzl (2649), New York, New York, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Feb 19, 2009 Bottle shared by Goldtwins, thanks a bunch. Nice mild, solid foam cap on the pour, quite dark. Aroma is quite complex, herbal and a lot of vegetal oddness, eggplant and carrot, zucchini. Nice pour. Weird, very yeasty flavor, tomato and dry ice, much more vegetal with a definite candi sugar note. This is pretty crazy stuff, complex but very malt sweet, a bit of a mess, little barrel character to be found. Cletus (5058), Connecticut, USA
| 4.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 18/20 | Feb 19, 2009 Pours dark brown with a thin tan head. Smells of dark fruit, some molasses, bread pudding, caramel. Tastes of toffee, dark fruit, spices, nutty, earthy. Alcohol is well masked in this one and the mouthfeel is a wonderful velvety molasses and dark fruit. Excellent beer! rwaters (27), Anchorage, Alaska, USA
