Commercial Description:

English: Since the blind Frenchman Louis Braille invented punt scripture, he changed the world for the blind. This year marks the 200th anniversary of his birth, and it celebrates Midtfyns Brewery with a "secret" beer, which really tickles your taste. So you have to blind-taste it just like the 25,000 blind and partially sighted people living in Denmark. If your taste is not completely sharp, you can challenge your senses on the label. The beer’s strength, content brew and the number is written on the label in Braille. www.dkblind.dk

Bottle given to us by Eric--thanks, Eric! Dark auburn color with a nice head. Smells off, and has buttery flavors. Perhaps our sample wasn’t good, but overall this was not enjoyable.

Bottle. Pours a murky orange-amber with a beige head and a decent lacing. Sweet hop aroma with dusty malty and fruity notes, and a spicy touch; the latter taking on a honey-like character as it warms. Sweetish, malty flavour with notes of honey and a thin bitterness. Hops in the background. Bitter, sort of hoppy, finish. Malty and fruity notes as it warms. Lingering mild bitterness as well as some slightly grassy notes. Overall hoppier than most brown ales, and thus not so cloying, which is nice. Decent. 22-12-09.

I actually think this is beer has a very fruity and surprisingly good aroma with a lot of flowery hops. Appearance is golden/brown with a dense head that has a good duration. Taste is complex with sweet malts, flowery hops, a lot of caramel, smoke and a strong, bitter finish - combined with a creamy and soft palate. Very enjoyable beer - but brown ale? The label says so, but it is not a typical one!

Amber-brown with a dreamy head. Bread and nuts in the aroma and a bit of grassy hops. Sweet flavour of caramel, but also some rather annoying metallic notes from the hops ... Not impressive, in spite of the good cause.

Brown-orange body and a off-white diminishing head. Nice hoppy nose, sweet, nuts, oranges and citrus. Nice aroma but it is fading away quite fast. Thin texture. The taste is medium sweet and has a fresh sour finish.

Bottle at EsBF09. Mild apple aroma. Cloudy grey orange colour. Small white head. The flavour has a little malt and a hint of spice. Gets a little grainy in the finish.
