Commercial Description:
Editor's note: Voted best new beer 2007 by the Danish Society of Beer Enthusiasts.

English: Imperial Stout is a dark and rich beer with a beautiful dark cream coloured head. It’s brewed from several types of roast malts and conditioned on oak, which adds to the heavy body. The Imperial Stout has a strong and growing aftertaste of coffee, bitter chocolate and vanilla. Suited for game, strong cheeses and chocolate desserts. Or may be enjoyed alone in a cognac snifter in front of the fireplace.

First few mouthfuls feels a bit too “scented”, vanilla-like, almost like bubblegum. A sugary attack, with a hoppy aromatic first impression. The sweetness is outweighed by malty, roasted fullness and a warm, alcoholic feel, which is what persists after the first 1/5 of the beer. The vanilla-sweetness reminds me of oak-aging. Very drinkable, as it is not too roasted or tobaccory – can be enjoyed almost too easily.

Flaske. Flot mørk næsen sort øl, men ikke motorolie. God duft af brændt malt, og en smule hvede. Smagen er fin afbalanceret med en smule sødme, men den er dog ikke super kompleks da der ikke er lag i smagen. Men meget fin øl.

From bottle at Aarhus Beerfestival. Classic Imperial Stout a la formula A. The hops along with the darker malts prsent a juniperry backbone. Very balanced and easily drinkable. Very hard to believe it’s 9,5%, but I’m sure it is anyway. Nice, solid touch from the oak ageing.

A dense black impy with a nose of oranges, coffee and black malt. Flavour is not that fancy:Coffee, burned malt and some hops. The oak is quite well done, but not really outstanding in any way. It has an odd soapy off-flavour.

bottle, smells real good (chocolate dominated, but nice), looks great, tastes like cigarette butts filtered stout, with some chili thrown in. palate a little below average. Overall not one i’m going to try again. I like laphoriagh, and this reminds me of laph. might grow on you. Trying a new glass after 5 min. This time around much better, still not good though.

Bottle @ Ølbaren, Copenhagen. Opaque black, dense and lasting chocolate head. Aroma of sweet licorice and sweet chocolate. Whiffs of burnt malts and tar. Very flavorful; dark burtn malts, salmiac flavored licorice, bitter coffee, and some sweet caramel lurking in the background. Strong body, hard on the palate. A rough, tasty and powerful Stout.

DØ Meeting, Aarhus Syd Feb. 2008 Bottled Chocolate and coffee flavor. However the dryness of roasted malt is high and not balanced with malt sweetness
