The pour is almost black, actually as dark as it can be without being black, and topped by a decent, rapidly disappearing dense tan head. Nice lacings left as well. What I didn’t notice when rating it the first time, is the little vanilla in both aroma and flavor, and there’s also a more pronounced hoppyness than I noticed last time, without it being a hop bomb. A slight alcohol burn occurs in the finish, along with coffee, dark bitter chololate and some burnt malt. A lovely beer, sure deserving the score I gave it the first time. I would still like it to be hoppier, and I would still like it a bit more full-bodied and oily, but that’s maybe just geeky. Rating: 8-4-8-4-16-4. (080629)
Bottle at Kolding Ølmesse. Pours an almost black body with a small, tan head. Would like it a bit oilier. Chocolate, coffee, roasted and burnt malt in the aroma. Very low on fruity and hoppy notes. The same goes for the flavor. Even though I like these imperial stouts without a strong hop profile too, I prefer them more evident on hops. The mouthfeel is full-bodied, sweetish and slightly warming. Really pleasant, fun to think about the great rise in quality they had at Midtfyns, this beer would hardly happened with the old guys. Aroma of dry coffee with some roasted malt and huge notes of black chocolate is well balance. Taste is a mix between some roasted malt with some notes of black chocolate and some dry coffee. Body is quite full and has a somewhat creamy texture which I appreciated with some good carbonation and no apparent alcohol. Probably not the most complex but very well balance with some nice black chocolate notes which I appreciated. Skinnyviking (4157), Copenhagen, Denmark
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Mar 19, 2008 Bottle. High brown and creamy lasting head. Pitch black body. Intense and good coffee cocoa aroma. Flavor as indicated by the aroma coffee cocoa with a pleasant hops bitterness disguising the high alcohol percentage very well. Low carbonation and a long aftertaste. henrikb (1303), Aarhus, Denmark
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Mar 9, 2008 Bottle - Near black body with dark brown edge, medium sized light brown head; in between nose, all the right elements (and I mean ALL of them) it simply aint dense enough, it is actually like it has a watery part; Incredible body, superb balance, it has everything, but again it aint dense and complex enough, maybe it is a little to sweet as well; Long soft balanced finish, almost to balanced and somehow not interesting enough. Great, one of the most drinkable Imp Stouts I have had, but this is exactly what makes it a bit boring. HenrikSoegaard (4364), Randers, Denmark

Wonderfull powerfull malty and hoppy aroma. Powerfull heavy bitter flavor. Strong notes of chocolate and licorice, only week coffee notes. Long nice finish. very creamy palate. Execellent brew and it would be a worthy winner of best danish beer 2007. charlotte (2036), Vanløse, Denmark

| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Feb 29, 2008 on bottle) Wonderfull nose; vanilla, cedar, toast, black malts. Super carbonation, a bit perky and near perfect for the dauting taste of mild chocolates, blueberies, bondfire and coffe with cream. Impressing how many dark and roasted notes this one has, yet still carries a real IIPA profile. A soft and a bit dull finish; taste and aromacomplexity is the headline here.
