Commercial Description:
Editor's note: Voted best new beer 2007 by the Danish Society of Beer Enthusiasts.

English: Imperial Stout is a dark and rich beer with a beautiful dark cream coloured head. It’s brewed from several types of roast malts and conditioned on oak, which adds to the heavy body. The Imperial Stout has a strong and growing aftertaste of coffee, bitter chocolate and vanilla. Suited for game, strong cheeses and chocolate desserts. Or may be enjoyed alone in a cognac snifter in front of the fireplace.

Bottle sampled on 10/25/08 courtesy of mj: Pours an oily opaque with dark mahogany edges and a spotty-lacing tan head. Aroma of sweet dark caramely malt with some earthy resiny hops and dark chocolate. Body starts with good fullness and warming sweet dark caramel and chocolate before a drier peppery alcoholic finish. A decent imperial stout, but needs time to age.

50cl Bottle from De Bierkoning. Black colour, beige head. Aroma of butterscotch, caramel/toffee, a hint of coffee. Flavour is sweet, butterscotch, roasted malts, some milk chocolate, liquorice root, coffee bitter and hoppy/grapefruit finish. Soft, syrupy mouthfeel, medium to fullbodied. Very nice, but a bit too sweet for my liking.

Bottled at Kukko. Black, silky cocoa head. Little milk chocolate on the nose, coal, roastiness, hint of dryy roasty coffee. Flavor has vanilla, dark cocoa, very balanced and silky, some licorice and menthol in the finish, overall not too sweet. Medium to full bodied, slick soft palate. Pretty easy and definitely enjoyable Impy.

Bottle, thanks to andersand. Aroma of dark fruits, oak, espresso, black coffee, chocolate, alcohol. Flavor of black forest cake, sweet nuts, marshmallow, earthy bitterness, alcohol-soaked fruits, some char. Nice aroma and flavor profiles, but at times is rather heavy and at other times a distinct wateriness comes into play. In any case, pretty good.

Bottle. Pours black with a small tan head. Aroma of alcohol, roasted malt, molasses, sweet malt, and raisins. Flavor is slightly odd- some roasted malt, bitter chocolate, and an odd sort of sweet milk taste. Palate is a little thin. Drinkable but not that flavorful. Meh. 7/4/7/3/16 (3.5/5)
