Commercial Description:
Editor's note: Voted best new beer 2007 by the Danish Society of Beer Enthusiasts.

English: Imperial Stout is a dark and rich beer with a beautiful dark cream coloured head. It’s brewed from several types of roast malts and conditioned on oak, which adds to the heavy body. The Imperial Stout has a strong and growing aftertaste of coffee, bitter chocolate and vanilla. Suited for game, strong cheeses and chocolate desserts. Or may be enjoyed alone in a cognac snifter in front of the fireplace.

500. Thanks, Maria! Jet black with dense, creamy burnt tan head. Big coffee nose, even gets a little acidically sour. Creamy medium body with soft woolly carb. Sweet chocolate and coffee mid-palate, long coffee finish.

500ml bottle. Deep black with a creamy but small brown head. Hugely rich chocolate candy and rich creamy chocolate syrup in the nose... the rich dark chocolate character is full bodies, slick, mellow, and very smooth and creamy. Well attenuated, rich and delectable. Better than expected.

courtesy of Laurent Mousson - pitch black with a dark beige foam; ; very roasted coffeish aroma; notes of pralines, full-bodied witha solid carbonation; sweet and with a touch of late acidity; long aftertaste of dark prunes and black chocolate - balanced and with a strong chracter: beautiful!

Bottle. Pitch black with a foamy and dense cappuccino coloured head. The aroma is sweet and roasted. Like a cup of coffee with to much sugar in it and some dark chocolate on the top.. The flavour is rich and malty with notes of licorice, dark chocolate, and coffee. The taste is ended by a nice bitter roasted finish. Texture is a little sticky but it is overall a very well made beer.

500ml bottle (Fish and Beer, Copenhagen)
Jet black, glassy, absolutely no head (lid came off remarkably easily, perhaps the cap had failed somehow?). Initial aroma was briefly great - nice sharp aromatic hops. That quickly disappears and is replaced by a sweet milky chocolate mousse. Sticky, almost slimy, palate makes it almost feel flat, but there is some crisp carbonation too. Very dessert-like taste in the mouth. Chocolate fudge pie with vanilla sauce. On swallowing there’s a touch of alcohol and some gingeriness, and then the hops that I smelt initially. Each of the components isn’t that amazing, pretty solid though, but the whole combination works very well together, so the overall gets a strong thumbs up from me. Very close to being outstanding. May have had a dodgy bottle, and would happily rerate.

Bottle at Nnudd tasting. Poured pitch black with a medium beige head. Lots of roasted malt in aroma with strong hints of coffee and dark fruits. Creamy body. Sweet roasty malts in flavour with coffee notes.
