Cask Days 2009 @ volo. black pours with a small tan head. roasted malt nose. the flavours are similarly roasty. the hops add balance and are noticable through but they are not the main feature of this brew. a well put together stout.

Deep brown nitro fizzle settles into dark chestnut black-brown, dense tan nitro cap. Fine, lightly sweet nutty-malty aroma, hint lactic, coca... taste layered nutty cocoa lactic dark-berry fruit & perfect balancing note of subtle dry noble hop, excellent.

On tap at Brewpub
Appearance: very nice dark brown almost opaque. Very fine creamy top presented. Handsome looking brew. 4+
Nose: creamy front with neat roasty behind, softer roasty notes shown on top of aroma.
Flavor/Palate : neat frontal dryness going from toasted barley, not too much. Mid is quiet smooth with creamy accents. Follow up is substantial, full of flavor with hints of mocha and chocolate. Add some oomph and this could easily become Imperial Stout.

Cask at ’Volo Cask Days 2009’. Pours a very dark brown with a small creamy tan head. Aroma of lightly roasted malt, some coffee, chocolate and a bit of cream. Flavour’s creamy along with roasted malt, coffee and light hops. Average to medium bodied. A fantastic Stout.

From Cask at Bar Volo Cask Days. Very dark brown colour with foamy white head. Malty chocolate aroma. Nice sweet malt and chocolate flavour. Lingering aftertaste.

Cask. At Volo Cask Days 2009. Opaque red-black pour with a solid creamy tan head. Oily aroma of treacle, nutty caramel malt - simple. The taste followed - oily and nutty, deep roast, somewhat sweet and, weirdly, salty. Slick mouthfeel, a bit astringent, fairly quick off the tongue - a decent, if light, chocolately stout - I will have it again.

On cask @ Volo cask days: Appearance: like a pint of Guinness, almost would think it was nitro and not cask, nice thick creamy head. Aroma: Milk, peat, chocolate, malt and almost some peppermint to it. Flavour: Malt, chocolate milk, nice smooth mouthfeel with a chocolate finish. Very nice.

[2572-20091031] Cask. Roasty malt aroma has a little earthy chocolate chunky cocoa. Clear, dark brown black body with a quick foamy off-white head. More roasty chocolate sweet malt in the flavour. Medium-full body is a little thin, could stand for more. Looking for more carbonation and more body here, would be interested to try it on tap.

Volo Cask Days 2009. Solid stout! Great roast, and great hops! Really isnt much more i can say, some good chocolate, and coffee, but really nothing spectacular, just a super solid beer. I wish it was bottled it would be a go to beer.
