Really developed and rounded flavor profile of cocoa, toffee and coffee, some lurking dark fruit, with a gentle late-rising hop bitterness giving it all a backbone. It was plenty dark and looked beautiful. great nose indicative of aromas. more-ish.

Black body with a creamy tan head and lace that slowly fades away. 4+ Coffee-mocha roast in the aroma. Flavour is similar, roasty bitter malt, lingering bitterness. Average plus body. 3+ A pretty solid porter, but a bit more roasty than my personal preference. On tap at the brewpub matt7215 (998), Cambridge, Ontario, Canada

| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Dec 22, 2009 Draught. At the brewpub. Near-opaque red-brown with a mottled frothy/creamy tan head. Light and dry coffee/chocolate aroma, slightly sweet, no alcohol presence at all, and just a hint of acidity. The taste delivers - mild cocoa and roast coffee bean, mid-level roast overall, dry, only slightly acidic, and thankfully no sign of syrupiness at all - not sweet or lactic, with just a hint of dry herbal bitterness; actually as much like a dark mild as anything. Light mouthfeel and body, almost too much carbonation, with a quick finish - a solid beer, not memorable, very very easy to drink. JesseM (678), Kitchener-Waterloo, Ontario, Canada
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Dec 20, 2009 On cask at C’est What. Deep dark brown with a tan head. Aroma is of chocolate malt and very mild coffee roast. Flavour was a tad on the sweet side, though not cloyingly. Lots of chocolate and mocha upfront, with some dryness in the finish reminiscent of dry roasty coffee/malt. Had a bit of a powdered hot-chocolate character to it. Decent rendition of a porter, and it was easy to throw back but not something I’d go out of my way for. Perhaps a little rough around the edges. Sammy (4064), Toronto, Ontario, Canada
