Chocolate, burnt coffe and fruity sweet. Body is medium and smooth with low carbonation. Flavour is extremely rich and sweet with a good dose of hot whisky masking some of its flaws and balancing out the somewhat extreme fruity sweetness. It ends woody and peaty which works perfectly for this otherwise out of balance brew. The whisky compliments it perfectly and lifts the experience.

Distinct raw liquorice aroma, seems a little sweet also, wood and alcohol. Black colour. Very small bubbly brown colour. Very sweet flavour, and also very alcoholic. Vinous finish, good peat note, almost like a peated whisky. Quite high bitterness in the finish, which tries to balance off the other flavours. A lot better than the original Black IMO, because it is more balanced and less rough. Something like 5 cl of this can be enjoyable, but probably not much more. yespr (12424), Copenhagen O, Denmark

Aroma is smoked and hardroasted malt and quite alcohol dense. Desxtrose hell, extremely sweet and with a smoked note swept through. Extreme, terrible sweet and lovely smoked at the same time. The extreme sipper - but there are many other beers I would rather drink than this. Sticky. Lingering roasted flavoured. Very interesting and slowly growing in liking on me. Way too big a bottle, the small De Molen 18 cL bottle would be nice. oh6gdx (9104), Vasa, Finland

Aroma is caramel, wood, alcohol, some fudge and rather peated notes as well. Flavour is wood, some alcohol, peat and rather nutty and vanillaish notes. Nicely "built-up" black by not too long time in the barrels. Really pleasant. sayravai (3784), Helsinki, Finland
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Dec 12, 2009 Very dark brown with hardly any head. Aroma of roasty malt, touch of licorice, clear alcohol presence, and peat. Flavor is very peaty, somewhat alcoholic, very roasted-malty, licoricey, and finishing dry and red-wineous. Quite full body, but feels even a bit thin considering the ABV. Quite pleasant and slightly more balanced than the regular Black. Not my favorite, though. TBone (6850), Pori, Finland

Pitch black color, no head. Intensive smokey, peat, roasted malty aroma - evidenty Isley whisky cask used here. Flavor is interesting compared to normal Black: some sweetness, smoke, tar, peat, tobacco ... not much from the original Black left. This is very nice, a beer which has gained from barrel ageing. omhper (12299), Stockholm, Sweden

Poors thick and very black without any head whatsoever. Aroma of islay whixky and sugar. Very sweet and (full bodied)^3. Viscous and vinous. Sweet, but not inky. peppery and fruity, mildly peaty, not aggressive at all! A whole different story than the regular Black I’ve been drinking. This works quite well in small amounts. | 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Nov 23, 2009 A Mes rate. Bottle at 1st Borefts Beer Festival. Black as night and despite the heady abv, it’s still holding onto a thin tan head.
poo the bed this is HUGE. So much whisky and a truckload of peaty, malty blackness. I can just about detect some fruity notes and the heavily sugared coffee of the "basic" version but generally its just huge malt, very smoky whisky and a bit of oak. Way over the top yet excellent. Bravo.
