EHopper (274), Minnesota, USA Mar 28, 2009 Walked by this several times, on several dates, before picking one up. Very dark, very thick, very warm, and very smooth. It is like taking a very good imperial stout and then concentrating it. Smoke and coffee, chocolate and malt, brandy and sugar. Would buy again more as a novelty. radiomgb (1920), Peterborough, Ontario, Canada Mar 27, 2009 Deep black in colour with a thin but lingering tan head, some light lacing. The aroma is of alcohol, cake, fruit, burnt malts, light roast and quite sweet. The flavour is very much like port, dark chocolate, burnt malts, pretty hot but fairly smooth, a bit sweet. Warming mouthfeel, large body, medium carbonation. Finishes long, warming and bitter.
I guess that I am going against the grain on this one as I found this fantastic. A chocolate port. A sipper for sure but one that I could have often.
375ml bottle obtained in a trade with TheCheeseMan, thanks Dan.

SudsMcDuff (1691), was CapeTown,SA-now Houston, Texas, USA Mar 24, 2009 1st. Fu#$in HUGE!! ... pours a black as night black, great great head and lacing, especially for the big abv .. chocolate, tar, nips, vanilla, bittersweet choc aromas, same in the taste but add espresso, kamora, starbucks liqueur!! .. wow, tingles my mouth ... but easy, the abv is amazing and drinkable but everclear .. ...----a seesaw battle-----.... needs about 5-10 years to become great.. i wish i had money for a pallet ... nqualls (1429), Nashville, Tennessee, USA Mar 11, 2009 375 mL bottle, corked and caged, purchased from Chuck’s Liquor in Bowling Green. Poured a jet black color with a two finger brown head that quickly dissipated. The aroma was alcohol, roasted malt and a bit of coffee. The flavor was terrible. A lot of tobacco and roasted malt was present, with a huge alcohol bite, and a messy, sweet finish. There was absolutely nothing that I enjoyed about the flavor of this beer. Overall I was very disappointed. jrmac (210), USA Mar 8, 2009 This beer is smoking. Pours darkest black with a thin tan head. Nose is chocolate, brandy, malt, and coffee. Taste is like a regular imperial stout, but with a warming feeling that comes from the alcohol content. Needs time, but it is killer. kkearn (994), Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA Mar 3, 2009 12.7oz corked bottle. This has bee in my beer fridge for a while. I thought it was black glass, until i peeled away the foil and noticed it was green. The synthetic cork came out with a quiet, unimpressive pop. Pours pitch black, with a few brown bubbles. Intense aroma - alcohol, dark chocolate, molasses, and burnt caramel are the predominant flavors. Initial flavor is bakers chocolate. The first sip ended with unpleasant charcoal and ash, but this calmed down for subsequent sips. Overall, the flavor exhibits a big chocolate malt backbone, along with soy sauce, ash, rubber and mild hops. The flavor is incredibly intense, but not very enjoyable. I have another bottle; it needs to get lost in the back of my cellar for at least 10 years. plutoodie (12), Belgium Mar 1, 2009 I agree with the description - this beer is NOT for sissies: It is black as a witches cauldron, powerful in both flavour and alcohol and very oily. It is rare to find a beer like this. But be ware - difficult to drink a whole bottle alone (share it) and all beers afterwards taste like water (rinse your palets!) asi (20), Copenhagen V, Denmark Feb 28, 2009 very lovely aroma, sherry, rasins and a bit of alcohol in the smell, black, with out cream, very very strong, burned coffee, sweet aftertaste
