Habanero (610), Tranbjerg, Denmark Jul 13, 2008 Bottled. Pours opaque black with a thick, creamy tan, head that leaves some good lacing. Nose of burned malt and caramel. Sweet flavour with roasted malt, liqourice, dark fruits and coffee. Oily texture. Alcoholic finish with some bitterness too. Very full bodied. pilsnerrogge (1770), Finspång, Sweden Jul 12, 2008 Bottled Pours absolutely pitch black with a firm head. Sweet liquorice and soy aroma; is this Samuel Adams Triple Bock?? Thick and oily mouth feel. Flavour is sweet with notes of coffee, liquorice and dark, bitter chocolate. But most of all the flavour is bitter; really, really bitter! An extreme beer designed for beer masochists like us. anders37 (4516), Malmö, Sweden Jul 12, 2008 Bottle. Poursa black color with a small tan head. Roasted malty chocolate aroma with some sweetish hints. Rosated malty chocolate and coffee flavor with some hoppy hints. Has a sweetish malty warming finish. Vas19 (293), Maryland, USA Jul 11, 2008 Pours black (surprise!) with a thin brown head. Massive nose, filled with chocolate, brandy, and a little dark fruit. Big time flavor as well, extremely complex. There is some more fruit and brandy, with a load of roast coffee on the finish. Excellent beer, a little harsh right now but with a drink by date of 12/17 this could be incredible in a few years. DocHop (278), Baltimore, Maryland, USA Jul 11, 2008 Updated: Jul 12, 2008Pours a dark chocolate syrup with a small brown head. Heavy aroma of dark chocolate, espresso, and earthy malts. Heavy coffee in the flavor. Not very roasty but lots of thick sweetness. Like a coffee molasses. Aftertaste is a lingering dryness with some hop/alcohol flavor. Extremely warming, and not overly heavy if you split a bottle. JorisPPattyn (5155), Antwerpen, Belgium Jul 10, 2008 Thick greige head over for all purposes black beer indeed - a purple shine upon pouring, maybe? Deep alcoholic, brandy or brandycake, chocolate, dark fruit as plums, sauced tobacco. Complex, but rather sharp roasted taste, black breadcrust, coffee. Alcohol is amazingly hidden - relatively speaking at least. Nice sourish lining, nearly fruity. Bitter dark grapes flowing. Extremely viscous, oily, nearly solid texture and body. Another indeed extreme beer from MIkkeller/De Proef. Certainly out of the ordinary, and well worth trying despite its not inconsiderable price. oberabcbbsok (686), Hoboken, Belgium Jul 10, 2008 Tasted on bottle at Kulminator from bottle. A very strong beer. The taste remains still on the next day. Verry intens coffee taste. pivnizub (4951), Bochum, Porúří, Germany Jul 6, 2008 Bottle (@ RBESG 2008): Pours pitch-black with a stable, brownish head; liquorice, dark malt, sherry, dried fruit and leather in the nose; full sweet-bitter flavour, full bodied; lingering, warming, first sweet, later bitter finish with traces of leather and coffee. Very good, but very sweet, indeed......
