rane (493), Nibe, Denmark Aug 24, 2009 Bottle. Completely black with small brown head. Aroma roasted malts and licorice. Taste roasted malts and licorice, very sweet, too sweet. I got it at a tasting, 10 cl was too much. bluevegie (2169), Perth, Australia Aug 23, 2009 Black in body with tan coloured head and alcoholic legs. Huge aroma of alcohol then dried fruit then loads of sugar. Taste was a touch hot at first, dried fruit again and sugar, not too complex, drank ok - slowly. unclemattie (2370), Georgia, USA Aug 21, 2009 375ml bottle. corked and caged. Amped-up Black Hole without the coffee. Alcohol is just wafting out! Super strong. Huge roast. Flavor has deep roast, log lasting flavor of residual sweetness. Whoo, flavor of alcohol. WOW. Nice malts, still lots of sugars left! HOW? Don’t know. Are my cheeks RED?? Nice, very nice. Another A+ from Mikkeller. Whoo that’s strong! sbroome (69), Burnsville, Minnesota, USA Aug 19, 2009 Pours black like you shut off the lights of the world and wore sunglasses taped over with duct tape. tan head is deep and could probably catch a parachuter with a broken chute. nose is sweet with a dark espresso, chocolatey burnt roast blast. taste? um, like heaven if it were made of sweet goodness. tastes just like it smells, roasted and chocolate with sweetness. mouthfeel is velvety smooth and perfect heaviness, but the aftertaste zaps your tastebuds with a lazer of crisp alcohol. some high-alcohol beers taste like a stout with a shot of rubbing alcohol in it, not ’black.’ an amazing marriage of alcohol and taste that makes enjoying a beer of the calibre that much more enjoyable. not if it weren’t $19 per bottle, we’d be set. IPAaLLtHEwAY (136), La Crosse, Wisconsin, USA Aug 17, 2009 Jet black pour with dark brown head. Aroma is roast, sweet molasses, vanilla and alcohol. Flavor is intensely rich and sweet. Caramel, bourbon boozyness and caramel molasses with tons of chocolate and vanilla. Palate is rich, full, velvety and creamy with a warming syrup like quality. AS the brew warms flavors develop into creamy roast, licorice, and syrup. Amazing brew. joeneugs (289), Livermore, California, USA Aug 17, 2009 Pours dark brown with an almost reddish tint and a small dark brown head. Aroma is earthy, vinous and pungent with truffles, chocolate and coffee liquours. Insane flavor of sweet chocolate candy up front with a bit of plum, fig, dates. It then settles into an incredible roasted, earthy finish that recalls a campfire and a mouthful of dirt and twigs. Very inky, its so bitter it almost chokes you. It’s definitely a beer I will remember for the good and the bad. Extremely alcoholic, obviously, crazy complex and lots of flavors, but way over the top. jredmond (1015), New Jersey, USA Aug 16, 2009 Bottle. Pours a pitch black body with small brown head. Aroma is great coffee grind/roast. Taste is coffee, great balance, sharp mouthfeel, mild alcohol in the after taste. JK54B (913), Helsinki, Finland Aug 13, 2009 A 0.375L bottle from Alko.
