Pours black like you shut off the lights of the world and wore sunglasses taped over with duct tape. tan head is deep and could probably catch a parachuter with a broken chute. nose is sweet with a dark espresso, chocolatey burnt roast blast. taste? um, like heaven if it were made of sweet goodness. tastes just like it smells, roasted and chocolate with sweetness. mouthfeel is velvety smooth and perfect heaviness, but the aftertaste zaps your tastebuds with a lazer of crisp alcohol. some high-alcohol beers taste like a stout with a shot of rubbing alcohol in it, not ’black.’ an amazing marriage of alcohol and taste that makes enjoying a beer of the calibre that much more enjoyable. not if it weren’t $19 per bottle, we’d be set.

Jet black pour with dark brown head. Aroma is roast, sweet molasses, vanilla and alcohol. Flavor is intensely rich and sweet. Caramel, bourbon boozyness and caramel molasses with tons of chocolate and vanilla. Palate is rich, full, velvety and creamy with a warming syrup like quality. AS the brew warms flavors develop into creamy roast, licorice, and syrup. Amazing brew.

Pours dark brown with an almost reddish tint and a small dark brown head. Aroma is earthy, vinous and pungent with truffles, chocolate and coffee liquours. Insane flavor of sweet chocolate candy up front with a bit of plum, fig, dates. It then settles into an incredible roasted, earthy finish that recalls a campfire and a mouthful of dirt and twigs. Very inky, its so bitter it almost chokes you. It’s definitely a beer I will remember for the good and the bad. Extremely alcoholic, obviously, crazy complex and lots of flavors, but way over the top.

big thanks to nbutler11 for cracking this... it pours about as black as brown can be with no head... very viscous. the aroma is really rich, thick and sweet... malt, soy, red wine, prunes, black raisins, wood, spice, cocoa nibs and booze. it smells like it’s going to hurt... the palate is just not my thing... overtly sweet, rich and syrupy. it does have nice flavors of vanilla, prunes, dark cocoa, barley, ashy roast, salt/soy/yeast, wood and a fruity wine-like tartness before a cleansing on the finish of alcohol. the aftertaste is amazing!... tobacco, vanilla and all around fit for a cigar... something to cut the sweetness. the body is thick, rich and syrupy (just like the rest of the brew), smooth and nearly void of carbonation. much like sipping on a nice port... just not my thing. 7/5/5/4/14/3.5
