Brewed by Mikkeller at De Proef Brouwerij, Lochristi-Hijfte, Belgium.

The strongest beer in Scandinavia. This imperial stout is the craziest, wildest, strongest beer from Mikkeller to this date. Not for sissies.......! Sample it fresh or store it for many many years to come!
Ingredients : Water, malt, roasted barley, dark cassonade, ale yeast and champagne yeast.

Poured at Portland International Beerfest--A dark black abysmal opaque beer with a small tan head. Rich, roasted malt bomb with a multiplicity of complexities. In your face but not over doing it if this is possible. Quite bitter, sweet, fruity, and WOW!

a dark beer. go figure. a tan head showcasing larger than normal bubbles. Nose was substantially rich and vinious with notes of banana, chocolate, alcohol soaked pumpernickel bread, pot wine, and possibly other aspirtiffs. Flavors were charred, smokey, and sweet. The sweetness seems to hide the alcohol, but then theres extreme bitterness behind everything. THe beer is somewhat of a war zone with the smokey, earthy, sweet, bitter nuances all fighting for a stance, creating somewhat of a muddled mess.

Holy crap! I’m coming in hot!! Pours an insanely think motor oil black with a creamy chocolate head that was bubbling in in what seemed like slow motion. Very sticky lacing left on the glass as well. Big nose of dark fruits, smoked malts, wood, chocolate and of course booze! Very tasty with a thick very viscous feeling on the palate. I have not been this shocked by a beer ( in a good way) in the long time........this one made me forget who I was.

DLD ’08: Bottle shared by sprinkle and some other guy: Poured an oily black with a tan head. Aroma, boozy notes, dark chocolate, roasted malts. Flavor, rich and sweet, some heat from the alcohol, dark chocolate, big bitter notes from the dark chocolate, very roasty, also pretty damn hot. Would really like to see how it mellows with time. I could see it being quite good with time.

Dark pour with brown head and lace. Huge notes of abv, burnt coffee, and a hint of choco. Slick coffee with a big sweet as well. Full bodied with medium carbonation. A beer that made my head swim to breath deep. A very nice beer.

’07 bottle pours engine oil black, light mocha head with sticky golden glass coating. aroma, lots of soy, dark fruits, some charred/burnt malts. flavor, lots of dark fruits, soy level is a lot more subdued than anticipated in aroma, mouthfeel hints toward a more pungent port-wine like feel followed by mild char/ashy finish. Beer is not the mess I had anticipated, big boozy, bold, char was mild, plenty of dark fruits, dark sugar, hints of yeast, licorice, slow sipper. Would not go through a bottle myself, share this one with at least 3 other people. Tasty, but more a one time experience.
