it pours about as black as brown can be with no head... very viscous.
the aroma is really rich, thick and sweet... malt, soy, red wine, prunes, black raisins, wood, spice, cocoa nibs and booze. it smells like it’s going to hurt...
the palate is just not my thing... overtly sweet, rich and syrupy. it does have nice flavors of vanilla, prunes, dark cocoa, barley, ashy roast, salt/soy/yeast, wood and a fruity wine-like tartness before a cleansing on the finish of alcohol. the aftertaste is amazing!... tobacco, vanilla and all around fit for a cigar... something to cut the sweetness.
the body is thick, rich and syrupy (just like the rest of the brew), smooth and nearly void of carbonation. much like sipping on a nice port... just not my thing. 7/5/5/4/14/3.5

Good sized brown head. Alchol and some fruitiness in nose. Alcohol in palate. Fruity taste containing black currant flavours. Some chocolate. Roasted malts which give some bitterness. Light sweetness. Hops. Too young, probably. RCL (1477), Waltham, Massachusetts, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | May 26, 2008 Pours black as night. This beer is out of control. Usually I rail on about beers like this being out of balance and abominations, but this still works somehow. Almost tarry aroma. Super thick palate. Tastes like I’m going to be drunk soon. Super concentrated coffee and booze. Buckle up for this one. redlight (1471), Winter Park, Florida, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 19/20 | Apr 18, 2008 I think beerlando shared this one. Alcohol on the nose right away, licoricce, and sambucca in the aroma. Pours dark dark brown, black with no head. The flavor is a little smokey at first, with some alcohol burn, coffee and licoricce, intense dark chocolate, with a spicy finish. Surprising light on the palate. wow. Pours a DARK BLACK, no light is comming through this thing.....Barely get a sign of Ruby on the edges when holding up to a light. Dark Tan head with great retention. Aroma will knock you on your butt!!!!! It can be compared to VERY strong Dark roast and Jet Fuel (Thanks Bu11zeye & Lumpy for mentioning that during tasting) Flavor much the same....It’s like taking a shot of liqour. Also had a high bitter that seemed to just live on your toung for 10 min. while even eating. Palate is Very Full bodied with low-medium carbonation.....I liked this shit!!!!!!! It is a sipper!.....Hard to Drink, but HELL Yeah!!! A beer with balls!!!!!!! I don’t normally talk like this but this is some hardcore stuff....store it for 5 years if you want, don’t think it will make that much difference. This is a beer that doesn’t want to be balanced........!!!!! Give some to your Miller lite drinking friends and watch them cringe! I wander how much this would be per gallon, can probably run your car and give anyone driving behind you a nice buzz..... TheEpeeist (1452), Swarthmore, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 17/20 | Aug 31, 2009 12.7 oz bottle. Not quite black with some oily tan bubbles and lacy swirls. Nose is chocolate, soy, molasses and brandied raisin. Medium body with a tingle. Taste is chocolate syrup, dates, Kahlua and licorice; quite sweet. Finishes with tobacco, tar and bitter burnt sugar. Could be exceptional with five more years in the cellar.
