Pours out black with a small lacing head. Aroma is of roasted malt, coffee, chocolate, some dark fruits and some alcohol. Taste is complex and definitely full bodied. Roasted malt, chocolate earth, smoke, dried fruit and some lingering sweetness, for being so strong on the alcohol it did finish boozy, but not as much as I would have expected, then again this bottle was well over a year old.

Damn...I mean...DAMN!!! This beer pours liquid coal with a nice tightly packed milk chocolate colored head. Surprisingly, the head stuck around a while, left lacing, and stained the glass. Visually stunning. The aroma is unsweetened cocoa, dark roasted coffee, and malt. Much more pleasant on the nose than on the tongue!!! This one sent chills...alcohol is HOT at first. Interestingly though, after you get acclimated to the burn, the underlying flavors are quite pleasant. I actually found the bite to be less overwhelming than with Dark Horizon 1st Ed. Sip this one...and don’t bite down, you might chip a tooth it’s so thick. Worth a try definitely.

bottle. Super dark pour with no head. Strong alcohol aroma, soy sauce, dark fruit. Surprisingly smooth, alcohol is very evident, but not overwhelming. Dark dry fruity very interesting, very warming.

Bottle. Pours black with a dark brown head. Aroma of roasted malt, dark bitter chocolate, coffee, licorice, dark fruit and alcohol. The flavour is roasted malt, dark chocolate, sugar, coffee, licorice, dark fruit and alcohol. This is a huge beer, the mouthfeel is extremely oily and a very long harsh, bitter finish. It’s quite rough now but surely would cellar nicely. Will come back for more in a few years.

Pours a deep deep black with a small beige head. Aroma is big time sweet with dark fruits, vanilla, chocolate and mild alcohol. The flavor has more of an alcohol bite although not as much as you’d expect from a beer of this strength. Nice fruity notes, roasted grains, chocolate and some citrus. Large bodied, chewy texture. Long long sweet finish.

charred and burnt to be angry with acid. flavors of salt and soy sauce. some added spice and fruit with a burning alcohol finish that starts pretty soon. different and demonstrative for sure it is of interest and perhaps delight to the weary of palate. flavor of cherry tobacco and cork hidden in the acid. thick dank and menacing in the pour with a whimper of a head.

EBF 08. Black with a brown head. Nose is slightly sour, roasted, espresso and cocoa tones. Mouth is just intense, the best wakeup call my mouth has had at 11.30 am in a long time. Burnt espresso, burning feeling, rich and dark and thick. Not too much alcohol present. Dry mouthfeel, amazing.
