Jan 17, 2009 charred and burnt to be angry with acid. flavors of salt and soy sauce. some added spice and fruit with a burning alcohol finish that starts pretty soon. different and demonstrative for sure it is of interest and perhaps delight to the weary of palate. flavor of cherry tobacco and cork hidden in the acid. thick dank and menacing in the pour with a whimper of a head.

Sep 12, 2008 Pours a deep deep black with a small beige head. Aroma is big time sweet with dark fruits, vanilla, chocolate and mild alcohol. The flavor has more of an alcohol bite although not as much as you’d expect from a beer of this strength. Nice fruity notes, roasted grains, chocolate and some citrus. Large bodied, chewy texture. Long long sweet finish.

Jun 13, 2008 Pours black with a thin tan head. Aroma of coffee, chocolate, and straight booze. It has kind of a burnt chocolate flavor to it. It tastes a little bit like a syrup. It is also a little sweet and boozy for me. I thought it was okay, but I had a lot higher expectations. It is a sipper.

Dec 7, 2008 EBF 08. Black with a brown head. Nose is slightly sour, roasted, espresso and cocoa tones. Mouth is just intense, the best wakeup call my mouth has had at 11.30 am in a long time. Burnt espresso, burning feeling, rich and dark and thick. Not too much alcohol present. Dry mouthfeel, amazing.

Aug 16, 2009 Bottle. Pours a pitch black body with small brown head. Aroma is great coffee grind/roast. Taste is coffee, great balance, sharp mouthfeel, mild alcohol in the after taste.

Aug 3, 2009 Pours a deep thick viscous black with a small head. Aroma is licorice, alcohol, roast, chocolate, coffee. Flavor is roast, barley, coffee, bitter chocolate, chalky, boozy, soy, tobacco. Glad to have tried it.

May 8, 2008 Bottle. Pours black with a small but lasting tan head. Aroma of alcohol, dark fruit, roasted malt, coffee, and licorice. Taste is the same as aroma with a heavy amount of alcohol and a touch of astringency from the roasted malt. Full oily mouthfeel with a moderate to strong amount of roasted bitterness and warm but never hot alcohol. Very young and green but with a year or two of aging this beer should be really tasty.
