Pours very dark black with dark brown fizz film that lasts. Aroma dark chocolate, burbon, licorice. Huge alcohol presence that burns considerably for first 2-3oz of drink. Mellows as you drink so you can begin to taste sweet chocolate beginning, but alcohol dominates this one. Needs more balance. Defreni (1024), Frederiksberg, Denmark
| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 2/5 | 7/10 | 1/5 | 10/20 | Jul 12, 2009 Flaske: Kulsort med intet skumhoved. Absolut ingen karbonering. God duft af sukker og en smule humle. Smagen er faktisk også vældig god i betragtning af den høje alkohol procent. Hvad der derimod er utilgiveligt og gør øllen udrikbar er at den er komplet flad. Virkelig skuffende

| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Mar 3, 2009 12.7oz corked bottle. This has bee in my beer fridge for a while. I thought it was black glass, until i peeled away the foil and noticed it was green. The synthetic cork came out with a quiet, unimpressive pop. Pours pitch black, with a few brown bubbles. Intense aroma - alcohol, dark chocolate, molasses, and burnt caramel are the predominant flavors. Initial flavor is bakers chocolate. The first sip ended with unpleasant charcoal and ash, but this calmed down for subsequent sips. Overall, the flavor exhibits a big chocolate malt backbone, along with soy sauce, ash, rubber and mild hops. The flavor is incredibly intense, but not very enjoyable. I have another bottle; it needs to get lost in the back of my cellar for at least 10 years. fidel (995), Livermore, California, USA

| 4.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 10/10 | 4/5 | 10/10 | 5/5 | 19/20 | Mar 30, 2008 Finally got around to sample this one. As black as can be with a somewhat bubbling short lasting brown head. Also looks like the thickest beer i’ve ever seen. The aroma is completly overwhelming, on one hand its vinouse and full of alchohol, like a good quad. But on the other hand it has all the character of an impy, tons of aroma hobs, smoke, roasted malts and loads of suger. Flavor is a huge mix aswell, but overall i think the molasses is the dominating ingridient giving is a very syrup like texture and honneylike sweetness. Behind all the molasses is a sharp alchohol burn, and tons tons tons of malt and hob notes numbing your tastebuds. I loved the experience this beer gave me, but after 20 cl i’ve had enough for the time being. I think i could spend a whole evening on one bottle, and when done i could taste it all night. Definetly gonna buy a few to store years to come. JK54B (951), Helsinki, Finland
