Pours a dark chocolate brown with close to no head just a little tan head. Aroma is again largly alcohol. Flavor is very choolatey with quite a bit of alcohol. body is creamy with light carbonation.

Bottle. This gem comes pitch black with a beautiful brown head. Looks like a dark treasure chest desperately not trying to give away any of its secrets. The aroma is full of roasted malts, coffee and licorice with toffee and butterscotch notes. The alcohol is hidden quite well and only briefly comes across along with the subtle hints of hops showing themselves as an easy breeze of grapey citrus fruit with a bite. It’s been in my glass for 20 minutes now, and I’ve still only gotten to sniffing this beer. Very potent; very nice! It does leave room for improvement however, as certain elements of the aroma would benefit from aging thus becoming more apparent. Aging would probably also add new elements. Taking my first sip of this baby almost blew my tastebuds away. A lot of flavour with all the sweetness expected from the malt along with an unsuspected bitterness, that came off without any fruitiness from the hops. The malty taste of brown sugar and dark fruits compensates a little, but again I’m convinced that aging would do this beer good. The alcohol is also very apparent without being too much though, but it would still gain something from a trip to the cellar. I agree fully with the commercial description, but I’d say 3 years or even more. Then this beer might be a true gem hidden in all it’s secretive darkness.

Bottle in a trade with OldStyleCubFan. Poured a jet black color with no carbonation at all. Aroma is coffee, roasted malt. caramel, and tons of alcohol. Smells very strong. Taste is very oily on the front of the mouth. Tons of alcohol jumps out and stays. besides the alcohol, there is some coffee, chocolate. Hard to get over the alcohol. This one is a sipper but can be enjoyed. Pretty interesting.

Bottle thank you very much to a new friend Phillup for offering this rare beer accidently sent to us. Pours a solid black. Aroma of alcohol and coffee. This syrup beer has a light tan head that just kinda lurks. When I first smelled this beer it actually smelled like rubbing alcohol, but turned out to be much more complex. The flavor does not stop giving. It is sweet, then bitter and ends in a coffee after taste. This is one of my favorite Impy Stouts.

A taste bomb. Lots of dark chocolate and coffe. It almost looks like you are drinking soy sauce, the liquid moves in a very oily fashion. We split the bottle three ways and it took us all evening to finish it. I like extreme beers but this was almost a bit to much. Defenitely worth a taste though.

Opaque black with a creamy tan head that retains extremely well; surprising given the ABV. Smell is really boozy, with some roastiness and bakers chocolate also coming through. Taste is of milk chocolate, caramel, cherries, and espresso. Very intense and good taste; much better than the aroma. Full bodied with medium carbonation. Taste was very good, but I could see how a full bottle of this could take a whole evening. Thanks to DicksMcGee for the sample.

Black as ink, dark brown thick head. Aroma is quite complex, bitter choco, licorice, coffee, tobacco(ish), soy sauce, yet you can feel a strange sweetness you don’t expect from a beer like this. Flavour is tainted indeed from loads of sweet added sugars which burns your mouth combined with those not that hidden 17,5%.

Bottle. Fantastic nose. Large creamy dark lasting head with good lacing. Hazy black, black body. Heavy aroma of chocolate, coffee, roasted and toasted malt and liquorice. Harsh hop aroma, heavy in alcohol. It has a good mouth feel, a full body, sticky texture and a bitter finish. The flavor has a very long duration and is heavy sweet and heavy bitter - to bitter if you ask me :-) A good beer for a long night in the sofa - it took me more than 2 hours to drink the beer.
