Deep black ... thin off white head ... dark dry chocolate roast ... Nice ... Nice ... Nice ... odd first word for flavour but HONEY ... sweet light gentle lots of fruit almost raspberry ... loads of roast with some charcoal... really very tasty with quite a spirit burn ... oh finish isnt so hot lots of charcoal bitterness in linger and a long dry burnt linger ... This would be a good 0.5 higher if it wasnt for its charcoal finnish. Skinnyviking (4192), Copenhagen, Denmark

So far I have not been disappointed so I might be a bit predjudiced. This beer has a high brown creamy and long lasting head. Often have I written that the body is pitch black. It has never been more appropirate than her. Aroma surprisingly mild coffee cocoa. Flavor however is clearly dominated by the high alcohol percentage. Still I would never have guessed that it wa so high. Bitterness does the trick. Coffee rather than cocoa. Low carbonation, long aftertaste. Is it good ? In Danish: Meget ! | 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jun 6, 2008 Special thanks to OSLO for sharing this imperial darkie. Pours an ace of spades black brew with a thin tan head that slowly dissipates to a fine film and no ring. Aroma of dark molasses, heavy rum, raisins, dark chocolate, vanilla and even a touch of wintergreen. Taste is fork-caliper thick or BBW to the nth degree, syrupy, with flavors of dark chocolate, molasses, brown sugar, and a hint of pine. Finish has a syrupy texture that sticks to your tongue with some black licorice and dark chocolate aftertaste. The alcohol warmth really comes out after the finish. Quite different than most other imperial stouts I’ve tried. This is the kind wither you enjoy this or not. Ughsmash (4095), Waukesha, Wisconsin, USA
| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 10/20 | Jan 24, 2009 Thanks to Blake for bringing the bottle! Poured medium-deeper brown with a short cap of tan head. The aroma was very strong with burnt black malts, espresso, and chocolate amplified by a whole helluva lot of alcohol.. a year old, but extremely raw and unrefined. The flavor was sharp, strong, and aggressive the whole way soy, molasses, and espresso at the core.. bitterness and alcohol were very assertive on the edges, with hot bitterness riding out the long finish. Heavier-bodied, bitter, and boozy on the palate with an unpleasant feel all around. Ouch. goldtwins (4086), Nesconset, New York, USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Apr 12, 2008 Poured a opaque black with a large creamy long lasting brown head. The aroma is semi-sweet with a fair amount of roasted malt. Some chocolate and a hint of ash. You can smell some alcohol but it really does blend well all the malt aroma. The flavor large. Tons of roasted malt. Sweet start with a semi-dry finish. Moderately bitter with just a touch of pepper. Full bodied with big warmth. Sammy (4065), Toronto, Ontario, Canada
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Sep 27, 2008 Pours jet black with coffee smell. The coffee hits you in the finish,an excellent puckering bitterness that squares integrates with sweetness. Great for what it is. Medium plus mouthfeel. The 17.5% is definately a closer, have a bed nearby. HogTownHarry (4026), Toronto (Harbourfront), Ontario, Canada
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Aug 12, 2008 Bottle (375ml - green, corked & caged). Shared with blankboy and garthicus via trade with Glouglouburp. Pours like thick black motor oil with a lasting brown mottled head. I loved the aroma - totally over the top, booze, cream, turkish coffee, molasses, smoke, more booze, and yeast. The taste - well, it certainly delivered what the aroma promised, but yikes thats a burn - huge, insistent alcohol, grassy cream, burnt malt - with a dry bitter bitter bitter booze finish. Thick mouthfeel, and sadly, I have to say too thick, mostly left the impression of vodka and burnt cereal on my palate. Impressive, but way, way too big, messy and one-dimensional. | 2.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 5/5 | 3/10 | 2/5 | 9/20 | Oct 1, 2008 Bottle, the best part of this beer. No surprise at 17.5% its not n easy to brew a good stout at this volume. Black as night even the head is dark. Loads of burnt and sweet sugar, malt, liquor and licorice. Some astringent fruits get lost in the mix. I think i cringed at ever sip, i brought it out and mixed with kriek de ranke even still i think it went unfinished.
