Dark pour with brown head and lace. Huge notes of abv, burnt coffee, and a hint of choco. Slick coffee with a big sweet as well. Full bodied with medium carbonation. A beer that made my head swim to breath deep. A very nice beer.

Rating number 1100! Bottle, aged 1 year. Thick deep black pour with a small brown head that slowly fights it’s way to the top. Deep aroma of roasted malt and grain, licorice, dark ripe fruit, espresso, dark chocolate, and of course alcohol. Flavor is huge, roasty and a bit sweet at times. Alcohol is big and always present, but wasn’t as bothersome as I was expecting. Full and creamy mouthfeel. I was a little scared, but I could drink this stuff WAY more often. Very good!

Thanks to Beerlando for this great beer. Pours a dark mahoganey with thin tan head. Pungent sweet malt, liquor, smoke and sugar aroma. Taste is liqorice, sweet malt, burnt wood, roasted grain. Finishes with a nice roastiness. Really strong, some aging might be needed to cool it down a little. Really good.

Damn...I mean...DAMN!!! This beer pours liquid coal with a nice tightly packed milk chocolate colored head. Surprisingly, the head stuck around a while, left lacing, and stained the glass. Visually stunning. The aroma is unsweetened cocoa, dark roasted coffee, and malt. Much more pleasant on the nose than on the tongue!!! This one sent chills...alcohol is HOT at first. Interestingly though, after you get acclimated to the burn, the underlying flavors are quite pleasant. I actually found the bite to be less overwhelming than with Dark Horizon 1st Ed. Sip this one...and don’t bite down, you might chip a tooth it’s so thick. Worth a try definitely.

(Preface: I’ve been wanting to try this one for a long time. Let’s see if this is all that I’d hoped for.) Pours an oily black with no head or lacing and little apparent carbonation. Aroma is profound: Can’t hide the booze, no surprise, but other characteristics are apparent; Dark fruit, unsweetened chocolate, espresso all on the nose. Wow, flavor is strong, tarry yet fruity, chococlatey, high-quality espresso again, and booze of course. Just makes my neck and shoulders shudder with every swallow. The booze overpowers, which is something you usually don’t hear me saying. That is not to say that it isn’t delicious. Palate is oily, liquidy, could’ve been more carbonated, though likely not possible with the rest of the package. More of a novelty; I mean, even if I could afford it, I couldn’t see myself drinking this everyday. But I’m still glad I got it, tried it, experienced it. I will have this again sometime. Overall, excellent. Thanks Mikkeller.

Pours black (surprise!) with a thin brown head. Massive nose, filled with chocolate, brandy, and a little dark fruit. Big time flavor as well, extremely complex. There is some more fruit and brandy, with a load of roast coffee on the finish. Excellent beer, a little harsh right now but with a drink by date of 12/17 this could be incredible in a few years.

Bottle from PC Market of Choice in Eugene, OR. Pours black with a decent dark tan head. Aromas of coffee, tobacco, dark roasted malt, and mayhap chocolate. Full bodied with thick, creamy carbonation. Flavor is sweet dark malt, milk chocolate, coffee, and leather. There’s heat, but it acts more as spice than interference. Finish develops a touch of cola. Somewhat sticky. FD&GtoH.
