Fruity and dense roasted malt aroma. Bite from alcohol in the eyes. Sweet and fruity flavour with a heavy roasted malt flavour following. Impressive sweet flavour with cane sugar and somewhat else - kind of off. Roasted barley acidic dense flavour in addition. Sweet and fruity into the finish with a distinct burning feel. Utterly unbalanced. Has all the ingredienses yet not in a nice blend. :( I did enjoy the experience - although this is tough one. BuckeyeBoy (1674), Boise, Idaho, USA

| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Sep 28, 2008 Had this at Thorsminde Campsite, Denmark 20-09-08, got from Phil L’s Beer Merchants Cave Direct Co’, cheers Phil Pours shark eye black with a tan head. Some tiny bits of yeast are present in suspension and peer out of this gimping mire of blackness. Bittersweet on the tip of tongue and then on the back of the mouth. Really coffeeish, alcohol is quite forceful its not too bad though but it s always there. Thick hoppy, oily, really quite fiercesome stuff. There is no denying that this beer is quality but for me its just a bit too much. Well done to Mikkeller for having the balls to do summat like this, chocolate, coffee and port on the nose. | 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | May 15, 2009 (Bottle) Compact black colour with brief, foamy, brown head. Roasted, malty nose with ashes, burnt wood, liquorice, cola, dried fruit, raisins, tobacco, brown sugar, dark chocolate and espresso. Sweetish. Intense, roasted, malty taste with sweet liquorice, ashes, sweet espresso, prunes, raisins, molasses, cough-medicine, liquorice root and dark chocolate. Lots of brown sugar sweetness. Full body with oily texture. Some coffee bitterness, but it’s overshadowed by everything else. It’s probably a bit over the top and way too sweet, but I still like this uncompromising beer. Seriously heavy stuff and obviously with a certain bite. I’ll probably save my second bottle a couple of years, a little more balance wouldnt’ hurt. jake65 (1725), Williston, North Dakota, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jan 19, 2009 Bottle: Dark brown pour with a thin brown head. Dark fruit, roast, chocolate, and smoke in the aroma. Hints of the ABV already. Tastes sweet and fruity into a heavier roast and coffee note. The ABV shows, but not too bad. Molasses and light smoke too. I would like to try this aged 3-4 years... Thanks BuckeyeBoy. BigBeer45 (704), Michigan, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Sep 7, 2009 Bottle, pours black with no head, I see a few carbonation bubbles in the brew at the edges of the glass but no head, leaves a thin film on the sides of the glass when swirled and looks to have some legs, some bubbles appear when swirled, aroma of alcohol that sort of reminds me of a burnt Port Wine, dark roasted malt fragrances, dark chocolate, some earth worm dirt aromas? If you are a fisherman, this is the smell of the dish of worms when you get ready to set the hook, the earth worm dirt is faint but that is what I get from this brew, interesting but not really a good thing, has a faint burnt berry fragrance, alcohol tingles my nostril a bit with some sniffs, a touch of smokiness, flavor of dark roasted malt, Port Wine sweetness, some chocolate, some strong (almost burnt) raspberry and blue berry in the background, alcohol is big on the palate but not as much as I thought there would when experiencing the nose of this brew, the alcohol is sweet tasting that has hints of dark fruit and berry, also, alcohol is strong but not as pungent as the Dogfish Head WWS, some burnt malt flavors, mouth feel is around medium maybe a bit less, alcohol seems to contribute to a medium and/or watery feel and dries the palate, I bought another bottle to age for a few years. Aroma of burnt malts, coffee, chocolate, alcohol and a hint of leather. Rich flavor of dark malts, bitter dark chocolate, roasted coffee, licorice, and lots of strong alcohol. Full bodied with a huge booze alcohol finish. ChrisThomson (405), Toronto, Ontario, Canada

Not my favourite Mikkeller, but tasty, more like a port than beer though. Pours black (big suprise) and zero head. Nose is roasty, port notes, with lots of alcohol coming through. Body is thick and syrupy, almost no carbonation. Roasty malt, dark chocolate, sweet with big bitter character coming through. I found this beer benefited from some aging.
