Smells of nice coffee and good roasted malts. There are a good number of dark fruits like plums and raisins intermixed with sherry and chocolate. WOW this brew has a massive "punch" of a flavor. Massive alcohol flavor with some nice sherry, raisin, plum, coffee, chocolate, some nice spice and overly alcoholic. Go figure, 17.5% isn’t always so easy to hide. Lots of bitterness in the end. nice and chewy with a very full body. You can drink 1. Maybe 2 if you are planning on falling over on your face. Just kidding. but a second one of these and you may forget your name or phone number or something. A good beer, once in a while. Thumbs up to Mikkeller! Grovlam (3810), Copenhagen, Denmark

Nice sound experience as the cork came off the bottle, and smoke was coming out.
The fluid that came poring out was thick and pitch black like never before.
Start poring heavily into the glass and at first there was no evidence of bubbles. Then suddenly a huge thick and creamy head started forming.
Used about a full five minutes to examine the aroma experience. Notes of dusty motor oil, light sour malt, powerful burned malt, light fruity notes that leads to some dried fruity notes such as prunes and dates. Some smoke and brown sugar appears, with soft notes of pine and bitter flowers. Also some sharp experience of potent alcohol.
Over the palate came the most intense and extreme experience ever. Sharp almost warming and numbing feel. The hops, burned malt and alcohol supply an endless surreal experience. Notes of liquorish, chocolate, coffee, smoke and dried fruit creates the complexity.
Full bodied with an average carbonation and the most powerful texture ever.
Flavor was heavy bitter and sweet and the same time.
Finish was forever lingering, with an explosion of notes.
This is by far the most extreme beer experience I have ever had. Nothing comes close. And I thought it was fantastic. Sipping away was just amazing. Once again thanks Mikkel! oberabcbbsok (686), Hoboken, Belgium

| 4.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 10/10 | 4/5 | 19/20 | Oct 22, 2008 Pours black. Solid black. Tiny mocha-brown head - and that’s if you center-pour from about eight inches up. Smells like the World Wide Stout from DFH. Sweet, dark fruits, alcohol, chocolate, molasses. Flavor brought out a huge port note for me. Smokey, chocolatey, and smooth as hell. Thick, syrupy - exactly like I wanted the palate to be. The flavor has a little more coffee than the WWS, and doesn’t linger on your tongue quite as long, but this is still utterly fantastic. Mogwai (218), Askeby, Denmark

Aroma is mindblowing. Sweet, yet strong. Alcohol, sugar, malt, hops, liquorice, dark chocolate. Appearance is thick and almost sirupy. Taste is phenomenal. Starts very sweet, and then the alcohol kicks in and leaves your palate, throat and tasts buds completely numbed. Absolutely amazing. Parasympatikus (25), , Finland

Aroma is really intense: red wine, old fruits.. First touch with lips feels like drinking melted dark chocolate. Flavor reminds me of complex and full-bodied red wines, dark chocolate, coffee, dark old fermented fruits. Alcohol tastes and feels clearly but not in a bad way. Smooth, full-bodied, complex, delicious palate. This is the best stuff I’ve tasted so far. grandgenie (252), gatineau, Quebec, Canada

It pours black (funny!) with dark brown head. I thought that the alcohol would kill the head immidiatly, but it stays.
Nose is alcoholic. The most alcoholic beer aroma I have ever tried, even in stronger beers. It is like sticking you nose in a good vodka. Wildly alcoholic, and I like it:)
Apart from that, mint, and roasted sttuff.
Very full, extremely long aftertaste.
Faurschou gives up, I get the rest of his glass. Everyone else agrees, and gives up as well.
I am now left with the remains of the two bottles. I don’t give up. Although it does mark me badly the next day, I do not give, but enjoy every sip, and they are sips. Very small moutfulls, all of them wonderfull.
Thank you, Mikkeller, and thank you Michael for buying. World class beer.
