Pours an insanely think motor oil black with a creamy chocolate head that was bubbling in in what seemed like slow motion. Very sticky lacing left on the glass as well. Big nose of dark fruits, smoked malts, wood, chocolate and of course booze! Very tasty with a thick very viscous feeling on the palate. I have not been this shocked by a beer ( in a good way) in the long time........this one made me forget who I was. BossHossBikes (147), Tennessee, USA
| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | May 24, 2008 Bottle. Pours like motor oil-viscous, opaque, black. The lasting head is tan and creates nice lacing, there just isn’t much there. The aroma is very smoky, very roasty. A lot of wood notes complemented with tart dark fruit notes and some lighter coffee and molasses qualities. As the brew hits the tongue, lots of sweet, molasses and brown sugar notes cover the palate. The alcohol becomes apparent and builds up, quickly causing a warming sensation in the esophagus. As the brew passes, this is where the beer excells. Tons of hops explodes. Smoked wood and coffee becomes apparent behind the hops. Hops just continue to escalate creating a very bitter finish. The brew is so viscous and malty that even with the massive hops flavour, it’s still rather smooth. The alcohol becomes more apparent as it warms the chest. This beer is big, really big. Pours a phenomenal black opaque with no head to speak of. There is no lacing either. The aroma can be smelled from 5 ft away...straight oak and bourbon. This beer is a powerhouse! Slams the palate of bourbon, oak, rum, raisins, charcoal, dark chocolate, vanilla, cherry, leather, and cocoa dusting. The flavors are NOT by any means balanced, but they are complex as hell. The alcohol is detected with ease, and burns the throat. The mouthfeel is off a bit, but for nearly 18% ABV, it is very acceptable. DFH World wide has nothing on this beer. Whatever this beer lacks in complexity, it makes up for in pure power! This is top notch. cellar (503), Dublin, Ireland

| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 18/20 | Jul 25, 2009 Jet black pour with dark brown head. Aroma is roast, sweet molasses, vanilla and alcohol. Flavor is intensely rich and sweet. Caramel, bourbon boozyness and caramel molasses with tons of chocolate and vanilla. Palate is rich, full, velvety and creamy with a warming syrup like quality. AS the brew warms flavors develop into creamy roast, licorice, and syrup. Amazing brew. Collint (465), Sylva, North Carolina, USA
| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Mar 23, 2008 Bottle thank you very much to a new friend Phillup for offering this rare beer accidently sent to us. Pours a solid black. Aroma of alcohol and coffee. This syrup beer has a light tan head that just kinda lurks. When I first smelled this beer it actually smelled like rubbing alcohol, but turned out to be much more complex. The flavor does not stop giving. It is sweet, then bitter and ends in a coffee after taste. This is one of my favorite Impy Stouts. Swalden28 (1531), McKinney, Texas, USA

Pours a DARK BLACK, no light is comming through this thing.....Barely get a sign of Ruby on the edges when holding up to a light. Dark Tan head with great retention. Aroma will knock you on your butt!!!!! It can be compared to VERY strong Dark roast and Jet Fuel (Thanks Bu11zeye & Lumpy for mentioning that during tasting) Flavor much the same....It’s like taking a shot of liqour. Also had a high bitter that seemed to just live on your toung for 10 min. while even eating. Palate is Very Full bodied with low-medium carbonation.....I liked this shit!!!!!!! It is a sipper!.....Hard to Drink, but HELL Yeah!!! A beer with balls!!!!!!! I don’t normally talk like this but this is some hardcore stuff....store it for 5 years if you want, don’t think it will make that much difference. This is a beer that doesn’t want to be balanced........!!!!! Give some to your Miller lite drinking friends and watch them cringe! I wander how much this would be per gallon, can probably run your car and give anyone driving behind you a nice buzz..... hallinghansen (276), Odense SV, Denmark
